I will be doing this soon on my 90. Is the q45 ball joint not available separately? Captain, please post a picture of your ball joint install so far.

mxr662, sorry no can do photos but will gladly share what i learned along the way with you. removal of componets is straight forward. just nuts & bolts. as i learned from previous posts so will you. the only thing i would add is to have a vise & a BFH, a propane or MAP torch, nothing fancy so far. as has been said before burn the old bushings out then burn some more to remove residual rubber as the were bonded to shell. as far as removing the BJ,s here is what i did. first go put some oil on the area around where the circlip resides on your new BJ. now put it in your freezer, yes your FREEZER. now screw the nut back on the old BJ till flush w/top of stud. it will help if you have someone hold the bushing end once it cools. now heat the stamped steel area surrounding the BJ. be patient, get it hot. now whack 3 times quickly w/BFH & it will drop out. oh yeah be sure to remove circlip first. dress that area w/sand paper after it cools. by now it is time for a barley pop. relax or go install your new outer tie rod end. assemble a 1&1/4''socket onto the end of a 6'' 1/2 dr. ext. go retrieve your BJ from the freezer, set it in the hole & drive it home squarely. 1 or 2 strokes & your there.

bueno suerte amigo

oh yeah, re-heat the steel where the BJ will live before retrieving BJ from freezer.

I suppose you could heat it and beat it but it's alot easier to take it off and have the old one pressed out and then the new one pressed in.Only takes like 5-10 minutes, for $10-$15.From what I recall mine were really in there and a BFH W/heat wouldn't do it or I would have done it myself.

I think the LBJs are glued in. From the link Wes provided Anlasak gave the # for Moog -thats what I used.

Tightest suspension on a Q here!

PS: Thanks for the compliment Wes! ...and no prob on that other thing...

squeefoo, thanks for responding. would you please read my post titled ''lower ball joint seat''. the issue is not removal but fitment. did you find that the stud was/is 1mm smaller on the Z32 BJ? this of course causes the BJ to ride much further into the seat. the taper is correct except for the diameter. this also causes the castle nut ineffective due to the castleations now being 1.5mm below the cotter pin hole. maybe you used a Z32 BJ seat as well. clue us in. like that old folk hero of mine says,''if it ain't right it's wrong''. Robert Zimmerman, aka Bob Dylan. thx
