Wes...I replaced the intake rubber thingy that you sent me tonight and in the process totally busted the hose right underneath it. Same hose you point out in this pic that says hose clamp on it. It busted due to old age right next to the throttle body on the neck of fitting I tried to move the other side off. The hard part I am having it getting the end of the hose off that is next throttle body and the only way possible is to undo the the first half of the throttle body. I need to know if there is anything special that I should be aware such as a gasket between the two half of the throttle body? It looks like there is some type of gasket between the two halfs? Call me tonight or first thing tomorrow morning please as I am planning on going to the dealer first thing providing they have the part and also would like to know if you can tell me the part number.

Thanks a bunch.....

btw...it appears from the photo that the throttle body is a tad bit different on Jesda's Q versus my Q. Did they make a change between the years? The hose on his left side of the throttle body attaches before the throttle body while mine attached to the metal throttle body.

Wes...or anyone, I want to know about taking only the first half of the throttle body off right after the bend to the left from rubber hose attached to the MAF. Here is a pic....thank God for NICO and all the good detailed write-ups.

btw...I was very happy to see that my thottle body is clean as new. I could not believe how clean it was. No gunk, residue, nothing....just pure Mr. Clean shine. I did have the dealer to a throttle body cleaning but I would have thought for certain that there would still be some residue....I guess not and they did a good job or the product they used did a good job.

btw...did anybody else notice the difference in the throttle bodies between the two pics above? There is clearly a difference in design as Jesda's does not have the metal bend (his is rubber) while mine has the bend in the metal part as pictured in Wes's old car.

There should be a gasket, I think I can see one along the perimeter between the 2 pieces. Definitely I can see the one between the TB and the plenum. Gaskets prevent vacuum leaks without having to hone both to a mirror finish. I think the metal bend is a TCS thing, but not certain.

I can affirm the difference is TCS has the bend in metal, non TCS has it in the hose.

Everything Infiniti is the source for good service. They got me all hooked up and I ended up ordering some additional things such as climate control bulbs and oil filters. The bad news is that the hose is on national backorder. While I can't believe my idea....I have to lend credit where due and give credit to PMQ for his ideas of calling local rubber hose place for hoses. I got a hose this morning and I am going to put it on for a temporary fix until the new parts arrive. At least I will have my wheels back up and running in the mean time while I wait on the parts. I sealed off the intake inlet to get the car to run...it sure does not like having its air supply messed with as I had to keep the rpms at 1,500+ to keep it running. So off to replace it temporary for now...

well 1.5 hours later all is good with the temporary hoses and the car idles perfectly at 600rpms. Thank God and many thanks to NICO & Q45.org for the help and pictorials. I would be paying several hundred $$ if it was not for you all. The gasket was still (appeared) to be in great shape and it all bolted back together nicely.

I also installed XM satellite radio, did Wes's cooler AC trick by cleaning the sensor in the dash, and pulled all the climate control bulbs to be replaced. am not really looking forward to reinstalling the correct hose, but it should be much easier the second time around at least.

Rob,Let me know how the back order thing goes. If a '92 w/TCS part is interchangeable, I could get you one cheap. Let me know. Paul

PS -As texasoil said, the TCS version has a different TB intake.

Go onto Q45.org and check the AC temp sensor cleaning... it probably does nothing but takes 5 mins and it may serve the placebo effect....

Rob, another thing you should do while your on a streak of having the car apart is to clean the evaporator.... Less than an hour
