You'd be much better off buying aftermarket speakers and an amp, and adding them to your base head unit, instead of getting the Bose system. The overall clarity of the Bose system is weak, and it will cost you way more than just upgrading your base system. You can always add a sub to it also.

I have an '07 Touring and one of the first things I did was remove the complete Bose system, head unit and all, and replaced it.

Well I do still have the head unit and sub, but I'm holding on to them. I'll probably re-install them when I eventually sell the car.

If you search any 350Z forum, you will notice a big trend. Everyone hates the Bose system. I had a '95 Camaro (don't pick on me... it was my first car) and it had an amazing Bose system. People thought I had an aftermarket system. A lot of Bose systems are great but for some reason the Z platform is horrible. I have an '03 Touring and I don't like it at all. In fact, after purchasing it, I drive right back into the dealership to ask them if something was wrong with the stereo because it wasn't anything like I expected. They checked it out and said it was fine. I have heard rumors that the Z's Bose uses "relabeled" Clarion speakers but I'm not sure if that's true. Honestly, check out other forum posts before you decide to spend the cash on the Bose. Good luck!

You are correct with the Clarion speakers. They are stamped "Clarion" on the back. There is also a Bose sticker on them as they are made to BOSE specs of 1 or 2 ohm.

BOSE does not manufacture automative audio equipment . BOSE just engineers the placement, frequency response, and crossovers of the speakers. The BOSE amps are proprietary to BOSE with the crossovers built in. The speakers are usually either Clarion or Panasonic designed with a 2 ohm, 1 ohm, or lower for the Bose amp. The "BOSE" head unit in the Z is clearly marked "Clarion" on the back also.
