So after going against my instincts, I took my car to a detailer to get it washed and waxed.. I just don't have the time nowadays with the baby...anyway, after about two minutes, right after I went in and paid, the guy that drove my car came in and said...sir we had a slight problem with your car...

In any case, they put me in a rental and the car is in the shop... but its the principle!!!

preciate that homie... man, I actually had to take a walk and come back to the car wash. I used to have a HORRIBLE temper, so I began taking Shotokan and wrestling in middle school and found a way to channel that aggression into something positive. I ended up being an Nationally ranked, All American, and State Champion Wrestler in the state of Florida. I mention all of that just to say, I can't just pick fights with anyone, the results would not be good... so I have to do these counting techniques to calm down... i did like 20 of them before I came back to the car wash!...lol.. but seriously, in the end, as much as we love our cars, we have to remind ourselves that they are just material things that can be replaced, or in this case, repaired... but still didn't stop me from wanting to choke him out!

Man im so sorry about this... well im sure they are paying for it... And giving you free washes forever (get them to put it in writing, and sell it on ebay if you like!) How did it happen? How much was the car wash (was it a budget place, or someone who shoulda known better)

This spot is in the Kearny Mesa area of San Diego, just off the 805... they do tons of Lexus, Mercedes, Infiniti, etc... so I know they are respectable!

Actually, if you have chrome wheels, they won't even let you go through the automatic wash, you have to get it handwahsed!

In any case, he said he backed the car into another car. So they have to fix that person's car also!

And yes, they offered free car washes in the future, but there's no way in HELL I'm ever taking my car back to that place!

Oh yes, they are paying for the brand new bumper, paint job, and the new taillight.... but I gotta link up with bluebatmobile, get another tail light overlay, and get it installed quick because my car is gonna look crazy until I do!

I was wondering how a car wash could do that to your rear bumper and taillight-- sorry for your misfortune! It'll soon be fixed like new again it sounds, glad they fessed up.

The bumper cover looks like it might not have to be relaplaced. What about the steel bumper underneath? It should have been a low speed impact - so hopefully the real bumper is undamaged.

Doc. Sorry about your car. But just like you said, material things can always be replaced.

Is this car wash on Clairemont mesa blvd (at the corner) near by a Ford dealership?

Wow, I would have had someone's head rolling, but at least they came and told you. I have heard of people going to places like this to have them only say, "It was like that when you brought it in!"

Your level headedness and calm resolve probably went a long ways. You should be proud of yourself.

Man, you nailed it about the car only being a material item, but my argument is, I WORK DAMN hard for that item and I sacrifice a lot of OTHER items in order to be happy with what I am driving. You know. Good luck getting her all fixed up.

Again, sorry to see this happen to your car. She is a beauty!

That sucks Doc! But you are right, as much as we love our cars, they are only material and can be replaced. Your ability to control your temper, especially in these types of situations, only show your maturity! Although I know it would have relieved some of the stress to choke the $hit out of the guy that did it

Why would he have to go through his insurance. The detail shop should have coverage or at the least pay out of pocket. There is no reason for RJM to contact his insurance.

Damn dude that sucks. That's why I don't take my car's to the car wash. I would rather wash my own car. Its understandable that you have a baby. Hope you get her back the same way you had her. The best of luck to you dude.

This happen to me as well. I went to a hand-car wash and the manager on duty took my car around the building to put it in line. He turned the car off while it was still in "Drive". He got out to do something and my car rolled down an incline and hit a parked truck. The owners where cool about it and made sure that their insurance company is repairing the damages. So right now it is at the Nissan Body shop.

I should have taken mine to the NIssan Body shop.. don't know what I was thinking... I took it to another spot, they re painted the bumper.. now the paint is off, gotta take it back to them, and have them re paint it and blend it into the quarter panels.... AGGGGHHHHHH .... wait, breathing exercises...321,123, what the heck is bothering me...

Come on man... you know how to work these guys over.. im sure this isnt the first time youve had a fenderbender... put them thru the car wash... its not your fault they screwed up... and they should pay thru the nose for it... if i make a mistake im held accountable.. if you make a mistake you are too... why are they allowed to damage your car, and then have it fixed... it shouldnt be fixed.. it should be brand new... just like the car...

Well once you have drive it off the lot, it's not longer worth the money you just paid. That is why they have GAP insurance. Of course I didn't buy that either.
