So I went to Bluebatmobile's overlay installer here in San Diego, and he had this on his car....Matte black , GTR cutout , custom taillight overlay for the G35.

This thing looks rediculous in person! Andy (bluebatmobile) is gonna design a similar one for my Altima Coupe... finally I'll be the first with something, had to steal one from Blake's handbook!

not exactly, the current GTR cutout is a bit different.

1. It's made out of glossy transparent vinyl2. it has full circle cutouts for the taillight and nothing for the turn lights

The one that Bat is gonna design for mine is gonna be matte black. Remember, matte black vinyl is not transparent. Also, instead of the full circle cutout for the brake light, we're gonna do either two rows of small circles, to resemble LEDs, or leave one large circle with the black matte in the center. we're gonna do three or four rows of small circles to resemble LED's for the openings of the turn signal, and then possible a rectangular slit on the side of the taillight for the reflector.

Its kind of hard to describe, you may just have to wait until the pictures.. in any case, the matte black overlay looks COPLETELY different in person... just stay tuned and we'll have the pics up in the next couple of weeks!

I tried to go off of the G35 GTR overlay design... only one person has that overlay above, and that's Ryan, Andy's installer. The only reason he's doing one for me is bacause I live here in San Diego with him (and because Andy's just cool like that)

I wish my camera phone took better pictures, that way you'd get a better idea of his taillights... they look waaayyy better in person. if you look closely, you can see three rows and four columns of LED cutouts. There's aboslutely nothing ricey about his overlays, if anything is ricey, its my bootleg photochop of the potential taillight.

Anyway, when its finally done I'll post pics... if you guys like em, cool, if not, that's cool too, especially since I'll be the only one with em!

I feel you, but I'm exactly the opposite. When I had the 6/10 overlay on the car, i didn't like the reverse light being covered. reason being is that when the clear reverse light is covered with the tint, it changes the appearance to like this deep tan/brown/grey color... in any case, I didn't like that at all, but I probably would have kept it, until that is my rear bumper and taillight got destroyed... I was actually at Ryan's house so that he could do the install for the new overlay, and that's when I saw the custom GTR overlay for Ryan's G35... so I put the brakes on the regular 6/10 overlay install, and decided to wait until Andy designed the new one... i don't know, we'll see how it looks. if I don't like it, i can always take it off, and put back on the 6/10 overlay, however, i will most likely leave the reverse light uncovered this time!

This could look really sweet. Rob, when you take pics I think it would help if we saw some at night with the lights on.

No doubt, I'll have day and night pictures... again, it'll probably be about a week or so.. after the design, these will have to be machine cut.... if it looks anything like Ryan's in person, I'll be happy!

I think they would look better if the vinyl was color matched to the car.

this might be dumb and repetitive but are overlays like this for the headlights and taillights illegal (in ny)?

I agree with u i think the tinting of the reverse light takes away from the tail lights, especially when they are on its all discolored. that cutout looks really good .. would putting the row of circles around the brake light as well be too ricey? idk it might look good having everything led style

Definitly post the pics when you get it should look good

I was going to get the GTR style but now reading about the new GTR style that is gonna come out imma have to wait... Sorry if this is redundant but to install the overlays would I be able to do it myself? Or would I have to bring it to a tinting place and have them install it?

You can do it yourself but from what I hear it takes a LOT of patience!

I'm in the same boat-- I wanna get GTR style for my coupe but now I'm waiting to see how the Docs come out...

On the Altima Coupe, the overlays are VERY difficult to install correctly! It takes know how and patience! The curve of the taillights make it a B*tch! I would not try to do it myself, everyone that I know that went at it on the A/C themselves ended up with less than perfect jobs!
