Went to get my oil changed yesterday. mechanic says I need work. Please advise.

Well, I knew I was long overdue, but I have a history of mistreating cars as far as maintence is concerned cause I never know what do. I also have a history of over paying for maintence I don't need and not even getting the maintence I actually need. Here's what the guy who changed my oil said.

Valve cover gasketFront SealOil pan gasket "maybe"change transmission fluid.

The transmission fluid is the only thing I recognize that people always talk about on here. He also mentioned something that he said should have been replaced when I got my timing belt done at 98k so now I'm pissed if this means I'm going to have some big operation. I hate being ****ed but this always happens to me. Please give any advice you can offer as what I really need (including other things he may not have mentioned since I ain't taken it in in a year and a half) and also how much I should pay. Where I should take it cause I cant afford the dealer no more thanks.

Definatly change the transmission fluid. I would do a full exchange with a machine rather than a transmission pan drop.

Are you gaskets and seals leaking. If they are get them changed ASAP and do a better job with the routine maintenance of your J.

If you can't afford the dealer look for a mechanic in your are that has familiarity with the nuances of 300ZX engine.
