well i went to the track today and didnt get the other wheels i was planning on using so it didnt go too great. my tires are the same ones that sat in the grass for 3 years they are still pretty decent but do not grip at all 195/60/15 on steelies . first attempt i popped an intercooler pipe coupler off so i went back and snugged all my clamps and got an additional two runs. second attempt missed 4th so that was crap and the 3rd i nailed every gear but the tires just spun every shift so it was crap as well.r.2760'2.31/8 9.1 @801/4 [email protected] r.0260'2.51/8 9.5@801/4 [email protected] rolled for a few feet and punched it both runs.

nitto 555r's are great tires that do well for daily driving and getting decent traction. they also last a good amount of time

normal street tires can hardly do anything

i was pulling 1.9 60's in my car and running 12.2 at 112 with my pump gas 15psi setup

ehhh...you should trapping higher.

Good runs tho. Sounds like you just need a lil tuning time.

i dont see why i should be trapping higher than 104 when i spin almost half the track. i might need to add a little fuel on top, a/f's were hitting about 12.0 on 5th gear pulls. the thing that slows me down the most is having the rear end travel as much as it does and the camber gets off when it squats. the next project is going to be stiffening up the rear end, fix my camber problem and with slicks i should be able to launch well. it doesnt look like i will be getting to the track, snow is coming wednesday so the car is going in the garage for the winter.

Do you have a LSD unit? I have no problems with traction with a LSD 4.11 gear with a 215/40/17. Its almost hard to burn the tires up. I have to really dump the clutch.

ya i just realized that trap speed..........u definitely should be trapping higher as i trap that time and speed with doodoo 60ft times but with 11-12 psi on a str8 T3...............

i think i let off early cuz it was dark as **** and my lights were off so i didnt see how far ahead the turnaround was , it was a waste and i wouldnt have bothered if people didnt pay my way to get in the track.

Wheelspin has nothing to do with trap speed. Watch some of the insanely fast supras that DO spin half the track and trap 160mph.

Trap speed indicates the true potential of the car.

ET just shows how well you drove it.

the skinny hard tires on my car spinning do not heat up like slicks on a supra , if i had slicks im sure i could dump it and spin through second still but they would heat more and gain traction more and more as i move down the track . even though slicks help out the most there is so much more to be gained from suspension setup. when the car sags in the rear end that is power used to push the car down and makes you move slower. i see a lot of cars squat every gear, most of them are rice burners with stock suspension. if you want real launches check out some actual dragcars and use the same methods on your car. our cars wiegh much less so less power is needed to go fast.

As before...how well you launch has nothing to do with trap speeds. If you launch well, trap speeds often go DOWN.

If you were running 16psi like your signature states, you should be trapping at least over 110...
