So i went through a big *** puddle yesterday...more of a raging river across the road doing a pretty decent speed.

The truck stalled half way through, and then i couldnt get her started for a bit. She sputtered and backfired

Finally I got it going, went to school. Backfired a bit when i gave her gas, but then half way to school she settled out.

Got out of school, went home...made it 1/4 of the way and the RPM gauge stopped working...it went crazy and then dropped.

Then i kept going..made it half way home...and she sputtred and shutoff. We couldn't get her going again.

Now, i have replaced distributor cap...rotor...and plug wires. Also exhaust plugs (it has both intake and exhaust plugs)

I can get it started once and a while, but she will run for about a minute or so and then just shut off. It will run good, still sputter on throttle, but then just plain jane shut off.

Any ideas? Maybe the coils?

Something you got wet did not like it. Look around the engine bay for where the water went and check all conections near there. Look for mud spots etc.

Any chance the cold river water cracked the block? I have seen that happen.

Did you by chance get water in the fuel? Are you sure?

When flood water hits the fan it sprays EVERYWHERE! Did water get up into the cab and hit the ECU?

Hope this gives you some ideas.

The truck was not warm yet, it was about a minute after i started it. (not saying its impossible, but probably unlikely.)

I put HEET in the fuel...so hopefully the moisture there is out.

Possible it got in the ECU...?

BUT the thing is, I can get the truck started and it will run great now for about a minute. As soon as it starts getting hot, it shuts off just cold turkey.

check your main fuse box under your hood. sounds like you got some fuses or relays wet.

sounds like your MAF took a dump. like in my case. disconect it and see if it runs better
