Went off-road in the MQ Patrol today.

Doug (or Dougie Diesel) is our MQ Nissan Patrol.
Today was his first off-road adventure (since we bought him)
Not really many pics to share, as we were too busy carving through sand dunes, and rocky/rutted roads to stop too often.

And a roo who happily bounded along next to us at about 25mph, 10 feet away from my door.

Once we get a newer 4WD, we are going to retire Doug to off-road use only, and put some mud tires back on.
The SD33 engine is really strong, and makes getting through the sand easy.

Lookin good! I like the snorkel, although I wouldn't think you'd get much chance to use it in Austrailia?

I've always been disappointed that we never got the Patrol here in the US (QX56 doesn't count).

I think there was a snorkel available as a factory option, but this one appears to be an aftermarket one. (original might have broken)
It does have a pre-filter under the hood (factory) that the snorkel runs into, and then another pipe from that to the air filter on top of the engine.
It's a proper snorkel set-up, but I'm not too sure about heading into the water..... The engine will be fine, but I don't think the door seals will hold the water out! :ohno:
