...without a boost controller.

I'm running the stock T25 with the SMIC and it has been running steady at 8psi for months. I think something popped off, because I suddenly noticed a lot more acceleration, and glanced over to see the boost gauge flying toward 20psi.

Now I need to wait for the car to cool down a bit, so that I can go check couplings and other such fittings. Bah... I have a date tonight, and don't have time for this. #$!@#%

What else could cause the boost to spike like that? Help, please!!!

No guys. It was his car. See, the car knows that when you hit over 20 PSI with a girlie in the car, her top wil come right off. Its just getting you used to the power, before you fall off the side of the road looking at Breastesessss.

It was the vacuum hose from the wastegate. The A/C shop f'd up when they routed the lines... grrrrrrr.

It was fun running around a 14psi for a little while. There's actually some pull in 5th gear that simply isn't there at 8psi. Man, now I'm fiending for the boost. :(

lol...i got a 90 buck MBC from turboXS that runs perfectly...1 bar of boost is great :) i cant wait for a new manifold/elbow/downpipe/test pipe/ exhaust all 3"

and then GT2540 turbo :)

I'll wait until I get the AEM to the raise the boost. I figure once I get that unit, I'll be able to tune it for 10-12psi with the SMIC. After that I'll get some cams, and call it quits for a while. The car should be doing 230-250 at the wheels, which is more than enough for day to day driving, and merging on the freeway.

I'm trying to avoid going with an FMIC for the time being.

yeah reliablity and safety when you increase the boost or put on a bigger turbo is lame

phax, you definately wont make that power w/ an SMIC...i saw this one guy's numbers...same mods as I but he also had a turbo outlet and a downpipe but he has SMIC and i have FMIC and i made a good 20 hp more then him

I'll be using the AEM EMS for reliability and safety when upping the boost. Eventually, I'll probably go with an air to water setup and run ~1-1.5bar through a sidemount, depending on the efficiency of the setup.

When my wastegate was broken, coming home from the desert, I did lots of sustained 4500-5000 RPM driving with as many bursts of 14psi as I could get out of the car without hitting the limiter. The EGTs never went over 1450. That's in 100 degree ambient temps.

One day, I'll eventually get a FMIC. That'll be the day that the car comes off of the street.

ur sidemount will hold 15 psi...DSM sidemounts hold 20-25 fine...i dont recommend it for everyday driving as its a little hard on the turbo...but ur fine runin 15psi...ne thing over and its VERY bad for the turbo

You do not need the AEM ems if you are going to run stock T25 you can run 15psi all day long with no engine managment, just as long as you have a good fuel pump.
