Been busy getting the turbo engine out of my s13 and dropping it into my new s14. Along with swapping it over to 5 speed, swapping over the coilovers, making new intake pipes and installing the new fmic. It's been along month.

Finally got it going today, something kinda interesting. The speedo reads way to high. I'd guess that when I'm going 40-55 it reads about 110mph.

Confusing, yes. But I looked around a bit and discovered that the previous owner ran the speed sensor wires directly to the speedo. I'd imagine he did this to kill the speed govenor, but your guess is as good as mine.

Any ideas on how to fix the inaccurate readings? If it really does kill the speed govenor, that would be sweet to just wire in a resistor or something and keep it like it is. But I don't know if I'm gonna have to rewire it to run through the ecu and just keep it how it is.

Anyone who knows what the're talking about please lend a hand.. otherwise, respectfully,.... just don't post at all. Thanks.

well, I do believe I fall directly in the middle of those 2 categories, I know plenty about auto electrical but nothing about s14 specific schematics. honestly in my opinion you really need to rewire it back through the ecu because the ecu really wants to know how fast you are going and it sends the proper pulse to the speedo. I really dont think you will have much luck with any other method as most speed sensors are just a pulse generator so it is a little more complicated to alter the signal than just installing a resistor. you really need to get a factory schematic and wire it properly in my opinion.........

hey whats up man i live in columbus too...

you need to get an S14 speed sensor (i used the one from my KA that i took out) and put that puppy in. the S13 i guess just puts out a different signal or something. this is exactly the same problem i had btw.

i'm not sure about the wiring thing though, try putting the other speed sensor in first before you start futzing with the wiring...it could be that simple

and as for killing the speed limiter...i ran the one of the wires for the sensor up into the cabin and just put a little switch on it...so when i feel the need to go that fast i just hit the switch
