I am off to Laughlin, Nevada with my family, taking the V for the 1st long trip. We are going out there with my uncles boat and 4 jetskis, two new Honda 4 cylinder turbos! And 2 that he has had for a few years now. Anywho I have a lot to say, but no time, so I will fill you all in when I return. Have fun without me on Nico for a few days! haha.

yup I am back, man was that FUN! My uncle had just bought 2 new Jetski's, not including the ones he has already paid for, and the boat he has, and the 5 quads he also owns. Anywho, the 2 new ones he bought were 4 cyl Hondas that have a Turbo in it! Those things were bad@$$! I was able to top it out at 61mph, but man is it crazy going that fast on a Jetski in choppy water if you have ever ridden one. Funny thing is, the 2 jetskis are worth more than my Versa after the additional things I bought and taxes title and fees!!! haha

I also found out the Versa really did replace my Sidekick since I washed it realllllly good and nice before going up there, and my uncle decided he was going to go to the about 2 mile dirt road to the semi-secluded launch area, which my V then got FILTHY the first day. Pics to come later once I get the film developed, but I had a darn good time. Except the 6 hour drive to come back and take my girlfriend home and come back to my house, thank goodness I didn't have to leave that same way! haha.

Welcome back and glad you had a good time!

The long road trip I had taken my V on was a little amusing. Because my car was brand spanking new, and my dad has this thing for being extremely anal about new paint jobs, he took like 15 or 20 minutes after I drove up and was getting settled in just sitting there washing the bugs off the front of the car (E. Wa is horrible with bugs).

And then the next day we took the V up a gravel mountain road. So go figure.

Learned something that trip though. The Contis, though sucktastic on pavement, are great on gravel. When we were going down, we were following a turbo Forester, whose driver was trying to keep enough ahead of me that they felt I wasn't in their dust wash. They miscalculated that distance to being really long, and I was having trouble seeing them from distance, not dirt... so I kept speeding up and getting closer, and they would speed up to increase the gap. It was fun.

haha yea they were pretty good on gravel, but we found out on the way back home one of the trailer tires didnt do so good, as on the way back it ended up blowing out. We were about 3 hours away from home, and turned 3 hours into about 4 and 1/2 going slower, but got back safely.

yea if you havent seen my other thread with pics, you wouldnt be making fun. I use a cannon AE-1, not some piece of crap. That camera is better than most of the P&S digital cameras that are out right now.

I got to side with Clipsed. Film is more professional, although that's changing. My 6mp $300 digital camera can't match my father in laws $50 10 year old film camera. I was very surprised when his film turn out better pictures of our wedding that all other digis.

Like I said, that's cool. Not to try & be better than you guys, but I work at a professional lab & about 2% of our customers still use film. And less than 1% actually still shoot with 35mm. The only reason I LOL'd was the concept of dropping film off & waiting for it to get D&Ped just to see what they look like. I like my canon point & shoot fine & I can see the pics the moment I take 'em, or upload them to my 'puter for free.

i love darkrooms( told a semester of b&w photograpghy for y degree) if i had my own darkroom i think i would still using my 35mm. But i still like the digitial since you can take many more picture and can delete bad picture with a simple button. I am looking into getting a SLR digitial 35mm camera but still waiting for the price to go down or for o ne of my 2 other digitals to crap out but i dont think gonna happen one a olympias and one a Cannon.

I wouldn't worry about that. Your Olympus WILL crap out on you. Both of the Olympuses we bought in our family died less than 18 months after purchase... and I used to work at a store that sold them w/ extended warranties, and Olympus was the brand that we ended up having to replace the most often. Next was HP.

This is why I own a Nikon... I couldn't afford the Canon I wanted, so I got the next best thing.

I've got a Canon S2 IS. This camera kicks! The 12x optical zoom is fantastic. I'd say it's the best bang for your buck in the mid price range for digital camera's. For sure though my next camera is going to be a Canon SLR.

Thanks, I did have a lot of fun, except for the drive back. We had to drive extra slow since we had a 4 jetski trailer with quad wheels, and one ended up blowing out an hour out of Laughlin. So we drove on the three wheels back home while I watched carefully along with my cousin in my car to make sure all was ok. A 3 1/2 hour drive ended up being 5 hours. and by the time I took my girlfriend home and got back to my house, I drove for close to 8 hours! Boy was I tired of driving that day!

I have 2 Canon AE-1's and an old old Pentax K1000. It's not about being an SLR, it's all about the lens. Good quality lenses will produce better pictures. Just cus it's an SLR doesnt mean it will automatically take good pics of your Versa. (see how I made this post on topic at the end there?)
