yea the 95's have a good body-style but dude consider everything, dont be picky i mean 1500-2000 is is low for 95+ ide consider going with a 89-94 but that's my opinion....Good luck

i dont think im gonna be picky, i dont care if it has 200,000 miles on it and theres some dents and rust, needs brakes or lines or anything, as long as its mechanically in good condition and i can drive it home then im happy.

Yeah, whatever s14 you find in that price range is likely to be beat to shyt.

I am cringing thinking about the condition of a kouki some one would sell for 2000. It will be hard just to find a zenki for that. I agree keep looking but maybe widen the search to include an s13.

It mostly comes down to looks. They are almost the same car underneath. It's just in your price range you may be able to find a s14 but it probobly won't be running or be in good shape. Even a decent s13 will usually go for more than 1500. Just look on the forums and pick a s13 body you like ie coupe or hatch and start looking. I've got a kouki and I've actually been looking for a decent hatch. I just love the way they look. By the way my kouki has almost 200000 miles and is in great shape. I pretty much ripped off the dealership at 3600. They originally wanted 5999. Just food for thought.

I don't think there is really that much of a difference other than the look of the body, i mean they both run good...The 89-90 240's have the ka24d motor which is a single cam the 1991- whatever year they stopped have the ka24de motor which is the twin cam...Personally if you like 240's start off with the chuckies and piggy's then later-on down the road when you can get some more money buy a s14...im happy with my 1991 240sx. It runs good, needs some bodywork but oh well. I personally liked the s14's at first but im glad i bought my chuckie.

i love this site, people actually offer good info and advice without being total a$$es. well it just so happens i found a 1991 240sx 5 speed 151K hatch for $900 with one problem, a brake line needs to be replaced. one was just replaced and the gas line was too. so i cant drive it home, but how long does it take to fix a brake line? could i fix it and drive it home?

Everyone is forgetting to mention OBDI vs OBDII... States like NC where they do yearly inspections, OBDI is MUCH easier. Especially if you do a motor swap. 89-95 = OBDI and 96+ = OBDII

It shouldn't take too long to change out a line. I had a 1972 olds 442 and i did a trait like that on the side of the highway with high pressure transmission lines and some clamps just to make it home. Lol

Now remember that 240's are known for rust so you have to check everything frame rails...I see some on the second picture on the shock towers top of the one on the right side ( drivers side of car in the pic ) and in the middle of the shock-tower on the right ( passenger side of car ) Motor may be a little beat though...Just keep looking i looked for a while before i found mine..Good luck

What is your reasoning behind the 240? That would help us help you.. Are you looking for a DD? A track car? A car to look nice? A street car that occasionally hits the track on weekends? Trying to impress your friends? A car that's going to last, or you're just going to turn around and sell afew months from now? I'm gathering you're a high schooler, or maybe fresh out of high school, so I don't expect you to have incredible amounts of mechanical abilities but a little rust isn't bad. My S13 has rust behind the passenger door and on the rail that comes off the frame and goes to the rear bumper support. My grandfather and I are replacing these pieces this summer ourselves, and it shouldn't cost me any more than $100 for the pieces at a junkyard. (We'll cut them out ourselves.) Another thing, are you planning on a swap? A turbo project, maybe? All of these things change what you're looking for when you purchase the car. For example, I knew I was going to be doing an SR swap, so when I bought mine, I LOOKED for one with a blown motor, so I could use that as an excuse to knock the price way down.

Got a friend that was trying to sell his S14 for like 3k... Pretty sure it's a 95.. It's burgandy colored. Was in an accident on the driver's side quarter panel.. Pretty sure he repaired and primered it. Trust me, if he did it, it's solid work. He builds boats for a living and I can vouch for how good his automobile work is considering he did his RB25 swap all by himself in his old s14 and he helped me with my S13 SR swap. If you want, send him an email. Maybe you can bargain with him. [email protected]

Don't buy one if you plan on trying to impress the ladies, if that is the goal, get a 350z... Or at least that is what I hear. The only comment that I get from girls riding in my car would be either "Why is it so f***ing loud" or "Is something wrong/broken with your muffler/did you do that on purpose?". Maybe cause I paid $30 for my cat-back exhaust. And mine is one of the better looking 240's I see around town, custom interior (all black) with good looking Sparco's, awesome $1k sound system, clean body and decent Sportmax 962s and it gets NO LOVE. One friend asked if we were going to take it "Back to the Future"

S14's look a little more modern, the Zenki especially and the interior is supposedly better designed, more comfortable, and more room.

Stock S13's have horrible seats, lousy sound systems (4x6 speakers)

This is because, girls want them... Same reason my friend with a riced out sunfire, use to have girls begging him to take them aride in it all the time.. I mean blue neon lights everywhere, a body kit, the works... and NOTHING performance wise but an exhaust and an intake..

Not totally true. I had a 93 hatch in 98-2002 and I had tons of compliments From girls on my Ford Probe. Haha

My ex was riding around with me and called my car a "glorified Ford Probe". Almost pimp-slapped her I was so mad!

Although this is even more infuriating, I looked up the specs of the Probe on wakopedia, and came across this tidbit

"The Probe GT was Motor Trend magazine's Car of the Year for 1993. It also made Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list for 1989, 1993, and 1994."

I remember when you were looking at that $800 S14. I told you my cousin had already bought the car. S13's aren't bad. I get just as many if not more thumbs up in my S13 as I did in my S14's.
