As the title says, after a long wait the shipping company has contacted me and said that my clip will arrive in CA on th 6th and in Boston on 26th. I am looking for advice on what i should have ready in order to do a 1 weekend swap. So far i got:

1. Gear oil2. Engine oil3. Two oil filters4. Sauder/shrink wrap for wiring.5. Several wiring instructions. 6. US and JDM S14 FSMs.

The clip does have side mount intercooler but i am very interested in this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem piping kit, anyon e know how long the intercooler should be for this pipe kit? I don't want to chop up my bumper reinforcement because i just bought it for my kouki conversion - so thats why i'm not going after a greddy kit. I also don't want crazy HP. I also have to double check with the seller on the downpipe situation, but if its not there should i get one with flexpipe or not? Any other hints that you guys recommened on a parts list for a first start and run. I am a noob at this whole SR swap but not a noob at cars, so try not to hate on me and point the whole SEARCH button cuz you don't know the answer but post to just get you posts count up.

Thanks a lot,BoBa

Is the front clip from a zenki or kouki? I would also buy new spark plugs, coolant, walbro fuel pump, boost gauge and a z32 fuel filter. Why do you need two oil filters? All fmic that I know of for an s14 require you to cut both the plastic bumper cover and the bumper support too. I could email you pics of when I cut mine if you want. I bought the tanabe concept g-blue turbo back exhaust that comes with a downpipe, cat delete and cat-back in one box. I absolutely love it. The downpipe does not have a flexpipe, as most of them don't. Hopefully the rad will be useable, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to get new hoses too. If you're a noob to cars, don't count on getting it done in a weekend. I'd take the old engine/trans out friday evening.

I am going to tell you to use the search button, not because I don't know the answers, but because I'm not going to sit here typing for an hour.

Try to get all wiring info together asap so you're not scambling to find it when you're doing the swap.

You should rip it apart and rebuild it. Or at the very least replace the oil pump and change out the HG with MLS HG.

I know I would.

+1 on flywheel and clutch The flywheels can sometimes be sitting in environments that cause rust to form on the surface, requiring some machining.

Redoing headgasket is a bit over the top, especially if his power goals aren't much. I've done over a dozen swaps, and I've never had the headgasket fail on me on any of them.

Replace all hoses. Vaccum, cooling, and fuel. Also, make sure you get a step fitting for the rear heater core hoses. The japanese use a different size hose than us. I can't remember the sizes off hand right now, though.

Redoing the oil pump is considerably easier while the motor is out, but again, I have rarely seen those fail. The only one I have personally seen failed was one that someone thought they could machine. They killed the tolerances and it made pressure, but not enough. The motor ended up spinning a bearing.

wow ok thanks guys for all the suggestions, i will go ahead and order the SR radiator hoses and for the rest i will just run down to parts store while doing the swap. I will do the clutch/flywheel after i get it running, its not really a big deal for me cuz i work at a dealer. Would the stock KA fuel pump be alright for the stock SR for the first week or so? i will upgrade but just want to know if its a major necessity.

The car will run fine on a stock fuel pump at stock power levels. Just don't try to run a ton of power off of it.

i beg to differ, with my stock f/p i was hitting fuel cut off at 5psi... anything that wasnt in boost i could do it all day, but once i put the pump in everything turned around.

You had a bad pump. I ran my car on stock boost just fine with the original pump. I have also swapped in many SRs in cars with stock fuel pumps and they ran in stock configuration just fine. You can get the car running with the stock pump just fine so long as you leave the motor stock.

Well be sure you still have some funds in reserve for the extra crap your probably gonna need.

+1 Clutch; flywheel at the very least needs to be resurfaced+1 Water Pump; I recommend replacing this.+1 Oil Pump; if you feel its necessary. I didn't for mine.+1 Hoses; every hose if possible i.e. coolant lines+1 Fuel pump upgrade; 300zx fuel pump or better.+1 Fuel filter+1 Spark plugs

I bought all the after market upgrades in advance, so i could put it on when the motor was out of the car. Because most parts are a pain in the *** to install while the motors in the car.

***I suggest taking your time***
