hi guys, i have a 92 se model and the motor in question should only have about 120k-150k miles on it. i was driving on the highway at about 2750rpms and it started to slow down even though i had the gas pedal in the same position. this indicated that i was experiencing a compression loss at the time it happened. i had to limp it home and it kept stalling every time i took my foot off the gas pedal. it sounds/feels kinda like when one of my spark plug wires broke and i had to drive to auto zone on 3 cylinders. it also has alot of what looks like blow-by in the exhaust and makes a cloud of exhaust when i rev it or move from a stop. i just did a compression test about 2 months ago, and it indicated that my motor was already a little weak, #1: 150ish #2: 145ish #3: 120ish #4: 150ish and i just did another compression test today after it started to run like crap, thinking i would see 0 on one of the cylinders due to piston rings being fried, but there is no change in compression. all the cylinders stayed the same. now im thinking its a head problem... i took the valve cover off and checked to see if everything was still in place, and it was. what do you guys think it is? it takes alot of turning over to get it started, as well as me holding down the gas pedal. i cant figure it out.... this motor has been over-heated before, and i think it has something to do with that... but when i take the head off what should i look for? also are there any other venues i can take to find out whats wrong with my car? once i take off the head, ill post up here my findings. hopefully you guys can help... thanks alot, and sorry for the ENORMOUS post, ~Ender

If the motor has been overheated before, then it is possible that the head may have warped. It may not be entirely noticable untill you get the engine warmed up either.

A warped head needs to be replaced.
