Well around 2 months ago i got the red ring on the bottom left and it said E74 on the screen, i researched on it and it said it was hardware failure so i paid a 100 bucks to get it fixed and i just got it back a week ago. And now i'm playing Fallout 3 and it freezes so i turn it off...i turn it back on and i see a red ring and my tv screen is showing E79 and i'm like ...i do research on that code and it's supposedly something to do with your hard drive, not hardware, but i don't even have a hard drive ( i know it's sad i bought the arcade edition ). So is there anyway to fix this without sending it back to MS...help would be much appreciated guys!!!

Poor Xbox. A friend of a friend got RROD'd a couple weeks ago but he didn't want to send it to MS because, well, I think he stole it I managed to fix it the other day. Second ring I've managed to fix on my own.

So with all the RROD's and the money to pay to fix it. How expensive is that 360 now?

well i've only paid 100 bucks for the repair, and i bought the 360 for 275 i think...so 375 is how much i've spent on it...with 25 more dollars i could have had an elite 360...

It may sound a bit retarded BUT I went through a cycle of sending my 360 off to get it fixed an having it go down again shortly after I got it back each time.. The last time it happened I got a little annoyed an punched the side of it.... now it works fine.

Well here is a quick fix to fix your xbox 360 without returning it to the microsoft. I bought a refurbished elite xbox and after about a week or 2 it gave me the 3 rings.. i grabbed a blanket and wrapped it around my xbox so no air could get in side ... I left for 45 min came back and it was only showing 2 lights *overheating* i turned the xbox off and let it cool down turned back on and problem fixed... idk if solution will work for rrod try at own risk
