All i can say is if you can get your hands on an 87 and above supra turbo for a decent price, BUY IT...LOL...Let me tell you these cars are amazing. I have an 89 and i recieved it a few days ago. When i actually got it i found a boost leak in the throttle body coupler. I fixed it and let me tell you, this thing has nuts. I pulled up next to my friends buddy with a 96 eagle talon awd turbo and won. His was lightly modded and me BONE STOCK at 6lbs of boost. Don't get me wrong i love my 240, but she is also bone stock and doesn't compare But i just thought i would add my 2 cents about the supra, if you have the opportunity and haven't driven one do so.

I was looking at MK III turbo supras before I bought my 240. There were NONE for sale near me in a condition that could even be considered 'good' Glad you found one, they are hot. Got any pics?

ill post some pics tonight for you, yeah they are really nice...I can compare this car to an NA 300ZX, but capable of lots more power.

Honestly, when I use to work in mechanic shop, we had a 89 turbo supra. And it just so happened that I had to run errands on it the whole day. And I freagging hated that car, it handled like Sh-t, power wasnt all of that nice, since to drive that thing, you had to actually make sure you can handle the car. I dont know it just seemed so heavy and not a good road handling car. Ever since that day I have changed my mind about the old Supra. Then again maybe its just that one, but still.

Yes, they are heavy, but what a fun car to drive and the potential is there for power. The only real issue with the car is that they tend to have head gasket issues. But, i am going to probably throw on a metal head gasket this summer so i can up the boost to 14lbs. That thing is gonna be sick at that level

The price they are around her for one in good condition is ridiculous... I could have a an SR'ed 240 for that much. with some left. Plus, I agree, they handle like poo. Nice cars, but first mod should be a metal head gasket and ARP studs.

someone tried telling me the 89 weighed in at 2300 pounds. . . sniff sniff, yall smell that, think he went walking through a cow pasture!

Anyway, yeah, i kept up with a 89 turbo supra in my 240. . .but i think it was because of the driver. Every time he shifted, the whole front end would drop and i'd pull another 1/4 of a car length. As soon as I get my car with that T-88, he's gonna be the last of my worries!!haha

hey huntin, my friend has one and it is very fast, 3 in. downpipe, blitz BOV, rs*r catback, 8lbs., but let me tell you what the trick is to making it a drag racing machine... get a non-turbo diff, the lower ratio makes it pull sooo much harder with the trade-off of 11 mpg on the freeway...it takes out WRX's and G35's, nice car, ultimate bargain speed machine

I've driven one of those and yes they do haul a$$! Good looks and great power makes it a winner. The non-turbo not so much.

You can drop a ton of weight fast on a Mk. III Supra too...

Stock seats are like 75lbs EACH.Stock wheels weigh close to 30, lightweight wheels will make an enormous difference (unsprung).Hood is a fairly large panel (long nose), CF or FRP will go a long way.

In general, they're just very overbuilt cars, but it's easy to take weight off of them. Honestly, I really want one as a project, but I'm just not in the position to do that right now.

the head gasket problem was another turnoff toward that car. at the time i needed a daily driver that I wasn't going to have issues with, so the MKIII and rx-7 turbo II's I was looking at got scratched off the list.

cool. There have been a few cheap turbo MKIII buy my house. They are either rusted out or leaky weather stripping and the interior being mildew smelling. Good deal though.
