I am back after a long time away! About a year after I left I had to sell my old "Rust bucket" due to an exhaust leak and a rotten frame on the passenger side... -I miss that truck- I am back with a "junk yard find!" which happens to be a 1987 d21 dual plugged nap-z and a five speed with only 165K! And purchased for the low price of 300$!

Welcome back! This place doesn't get as much traffic as it used to. Looks like a great find on your new d21, what are your plans for it?

I am a total newbie here, just admonished for an off-topic post, but this one is dead on. You got (almost) my exact truck for $300. I have an XE special edition model, but with platinum paint and even the exact same camper shell you show. If you don't mind, when you get the time, could you post basic info on the condition at time of purchase. I would especially like to know the compression you got, what you saw when you pulled the valve cover (clean or "no oil change" sludge), timing chain condition, what parts are clearly not original (can't believe that AIV box is even still intact), was the speedo needle melted, and how it sounded and drove (if drivable) when you got it. What part of the country was this thing found in? Man I wish I had lucked up on this baby. Even though I own some muscle cars (late 60's early 70's) and others, this is still my all time favorite vehicle.

Welcome back, 'wolf'!

Looks like a good truck with a lot of miles left in it. Nice to see another '87 still around. Frame rust is a killer, for sure. I did some repairs to my frame last winter, also on the passenger side just in front of the rear wheel. I noticed a buildup of dirt inside the driver's side frame in the same area so I will clean that out before winter and have the underside of the truck oil sprayed, including inside the frame rails--that should keep mine running for a good while longer. Best of luck with your D21!

Gary
