beancan wrote:Did the valve cover gaskets on my 99t Not bad at all really. I was done in under 4 hours(I spent an extra 30 minutes on the throttle body and the iac/egr passages in the upper plenum so im not counting that in the 4 hours) As for that bracket on the drivers side, No cutting required.. I bent it up out of the way.. When I was done, I bent it back... You can't even tell I was in there.. And please, just bite thebullet and take off the fuel lines on the passenger side. take off the gas cap - or youll get a nice steady stream of gas..
The only problem?? ME!!!The back of my legs and my back are reminding me imnot 18 anymore... But its nice to not smell burnt oil throughthe hvac..
I don't want to jeinx myself, but the missfire is gone... Totally..
Funny how I fixed it..I had an extra coil pack in a box.. As I took things apart I threw the rest of the coils into the same box..When it came time to re assemble, I closed the lid.. shook it up..and grabbed 8.. Luck??? Or maybe that nasty upper plenum.. My 21 year old 300zx wasn't even CLOSE to that dirty Only time will tell how it holds

I love it!!!!!!!!!!! This is the kind of knowledge base that makes Nico so awesome. We know that valve cover gaskets fail with pretty good regularity at 10 years or so and can be considered regular maintenance.
Thanks for adding to my write up about removing the fuel lines but most importantly bending the bracket. Very clever.
