whats up guys. i havent been on here in sometime now.i have been so busy with the new baby coming and everything.but anyways

some of you know i rebuilt my ca and after about 5 miles it started to knock.well i got it out and took apart some.and i havent been able to fine anything wrong with it yet.i pulled the head of and there was not bent valves that you can see. except for the number 2 and 3 valve holes on the intake side was a little wet from some oil it look like.but net running you know what i mean.head gasket look great. so i start to take the bottom end apart and it look fine.pistons look greta no broke rings,no turned bearings(but some of them had some wear on them like they was wear of the outside coat)i will post pics later of them.i just dont under stand what the hell it could have been knocking.im going to take the oil pump, and water pump off and check it out.but im lost on this one.

and idea?

thanks jason

The worn bearings on a rebuild would be an indication of rod knock. You don't necessarily have to spin a bearing to get the rod to knock. It's actually supposed to be supported on a film of oil, and if you're having lubrication problems, then the rod will knock back and forth on the crank.

I would check the oil pump and make sure all of the oil passages on the crank are clear, especially on the #3 rod...

i was thinking the same thing. the oil pump is new and its pumping good.i know i needed to put a gauage on it before anyone says anything.when i took the caps of there was oil on the inside of the bearings like they should have been.someone told me that using the kind of oil i did might have done it but not sure.

p.s.im going to go and talk to the guy i know that has the machine shop and builds race engine tomorrow and see what he thinks.i just hope i can get this thing back running soon.

i used stp oil treatmeant.thats what i have always used and my dad too.i know alot of people used it to build the motors.im thinking it mixed with the mobil 1 f.s oil might have done the trick.

the guy at the shop wants to look at the crank so i got to take it to him monday.he said the rod bearings are fine they shop look like that.but the crank bearings shouldnt show wear like that.
