yep, i broke down

and probably just wasted 276$ and a 1000$ turbo.... but im the kinda person who likes taking chances.

i just picked up a manifold from ebay :gasp: hate me if you want :( but i gota know if they fitt and how they work out.

i found a buy it now auction for 249$ late last night ,and i compulsivly hit the purchase button and then paid , this intranet shopping makes it way way to easy for compulsive shoppers to buy stupid crap. :ylsuper

Jon, I really don't know if I would install that on your car or not. I might use it as a guide to have one built, but those are infamous for being ****ty. There was a bid debate about them on here a few weeks ago when they first started making them. Regardless, good luck with it man.

Apparently they have made their manifolds better than their first go at it about a year ago (I read about the first generation of SS Autocromes manifold on DSMtalk.com when I almost bought a GS-T) SO it *should* fit better. The problem with it now is this: It is made of mild steel. No real big problem. Except it is effected by heat a LOT (ie it will contract and expand quickly and easily). Mabye do like what a lot of folks do with GReddy manifolds and cut it apart between the tubes on the flange to make spaces for it to expand and contract. I have seen this done, but I'm not totally sure this is a good idea here. Your next problem comes from the fact that the manifold gets the distinct honor of holding that hanging turbo off of it. So while it gets to deal with physics in the heat department, it gets a double whammy from the stress of weight and gravity.

Final Advice: find a safe way to deal with the inherint heat problems with mild steel and make a support bracket.

thats already been planned ! also im goin to ceramic coat it.. im not going to mill any of the flange faces to make them flat if they are twisted i will send it back and get my money, if the welds are looked over by my mom and dont me her standards then it will go back, ill return it in person if i have too. i need a vacation/roadtrip any how. (also my mom was a certified welder for 15+years , i thnk she knows her ****)

im thinking of a bracket that will support it but at the same time allow for some expansion and retraction. maybe a bracket that attaches to the turbo flange at the studs, and then goes to the block with some sort of bushing in it that way it can give a tiny bit each way. the brackets them selves can be inducive to cracking , they wont heat up or expand at the same rate as the tubes and flanges them selfs it will basicly try and tear itself apart.

You would be suprised Sean. I have seen plenty of folks running mild steel manifolds w/o one. But we here at NICO are a brighter set, so I should have taken that into account;)

I think mild steel expands less than stainless doesn't it?

Most flanges on tubular manifolds that I've seen have been mild steel while the pipes are stainless.

Mine is all stainless, well the bag of bits are, I'm waiting for it to be assembled.

I definately think cutting down between the headers is a good idea though.

If nothing else I don't see how splitting the mani would be detrimental.
