Ok folks so I was kinda bored so I thought I post in here. Anyways, I believe after lurking here myself every so often reading all the information in here. I believe that you can access the plastic door behind the drivers visor for the electrical wires. I think this was pointed out for people who wanted to replace there rear view mirror with the remote control thingy-ma-jigs version. Anyhow, I think people use the same wires to attach a sattelite radio. I guess a GPS is no different. Personally, I don't like attaching the GPS on the windshield fearing it would attract attention.Anyways, I took pictures where a 4.5 inch GPS fits perfectly in front of the tachometer. ( For people who dont really need to look at a tachometer.) Plus you can see if you rev too much if it comes into view above the GPS. Fits perfectly and snugged and becomes part of my dashboard. Does not stand out. The good thing about this particular GPS is that its removeable from its base mount by pushing a button and tilting it out if you want to mount it on windshield. Never thought of trying to place it in Sunglass holder. I did try to place behind that small middle sunshade. Still attract attention and still to high for my taste. I like it in the dash where all my instrumentation is anyway, but you do need small hands to type through the steering wheel. Well heres pixs if your interested in trying. These pixs were taking at night and in the dark so its all flash.

I've also considered placing my gps there. That's the same exact spot on my previous car (honda civic). I think there's plenty of room on the back of that cigarette plug if you want to get another female socket and tap into it, therefore hiding the gps power and loop it up behind the dash some how?

Also, where is the in cabin fuse block does anyone know?

There is plenty of room behind / below the outlet panel. This is where I tapped into to get power for mine.

The fuse panel is right about your left knee. there is a small handle. Pull the panel out and the fusses are behind it.

OP feels that windshield (and I assume also dash) mounted GPS attract too much attention. Can't say I like the idea of placing it over the tac. Looks crowded in there.

I received a little TomTom Go 130 as a gift from the dealer. I keep it plugged into the second outlet (inside the center armrest compartment). When I need it (not very often), I stick it onto the small flat circular base which I placed in the groove where the center speaker would be on Bose systems. It's easy enough to attach and remove and I find it fits perfectly there.

That's where I use to stick my Garmin Nuvi 260 (2.8" tall, 3.8" wide) in the same area, but to the right of the ac socket. Actually a good fit for the open area down there.

Con-If your a visual person, not too fun looking up and down that particular distance but for text-to-speech its fine.

Pro- Not prominent location, less obvious, low profile, deter thieves. Fills empty space down there nicely.

When I read your subject line "GPS in Dashboard" I got all excited. I'm still planning on installing one in the dash... but was thinking more along the lines of it actually being "in" the dash rather than "on" it. It's a nice idea though... clean and unobtrusive. Thanks. In the meantime I'm still looking for ideas and other installation stories and reviewing my options... cost... etc. Either something like this Kenwood DNX5120...

or... maybe a Qashqai mod...

I have the Garmin 1490T (a 5-inch screen), which is mounted via a Garmin bean bag on top of the center vents.

I just toss the whole thing in the glove box when not in use. Fits fine without having to detach any of it.

Might try sitting it over the tach, though. That's kind of cool.
