I’ve been waiting to take some good pictures, but I haven’t had time, so you get these crappy pics I took when I picked up the car. This is my new 2007 Audi A3 3.2 Quattro. I’ve had it for three weeks now and it’s a nice car. It has a 250hp 3.2 L V6 with a 6 speed DSG transmission and paddle shifter. The stereo if a Bose system with NAV and a 6 disk CD in the glove box. The NAV screen flips down and there are 2 slots for SD memory cards for MP3s. The rims are 18in with Pirelli tires. This car handles very nice and it’s fast. I still have the Q, but it looks like a NICO member is interested and it might be sold by this weekend.

Nice car but not quite the panache of a Q45.

Yeah, I couldn't go from a Q to that. If it's not an A6 or higher, I can't cope. Spoiled I guess. Addicted to V8 engines and high maintenance wallet draining luxury boats.

Yea, I'm done with the boats for now. The A3 is like driving my wife's 330i. The A3 has 250hp so this thing moves faster than the Q. Also, since I live in an urban setting and do mostly city driving, this is the right car for me.

Is the a3 based off the Volkwagen Rabit/Golf? It looks very similar in the side profile, especially near the C pillar, and I remember the r32 vw using the same engine?

Yea, I think so. It is like the R32. If the R32 is based on the Golf than so is this one. I havn't troled the Audi forum enough yet. I don't like the Auid forums that much. Not as good as NICO.

The R32 Golf/Rabbit is one tough little car,I can only imagine how nice the Audi version must be! My all around favorite lux car today remains the current A8-stunning interior and sleek, understated exterior just oozing class-this is the exact car Infiniti should have imitated as a replacement for the G50 q45

I abhor the front weight bias of the Audi's with the engines at and in front of the front axles. Exactly shy they and Acura have to adopt AWD to get the cars to handle. This extends to the Audi Bentley's also. Neither are their severely undersquare engines my favorites.

As much as I like my Q,After driving a new A8L for a day aggressivly,I can tell you there is nothing I would miss by replacing the q with it,except for reliability-and I cant name ANY other current lux sedan that I would say the same about.

Car & Driver September 1989 has the Q45 weight distribution is F/R: 57/43

Car & Driver August 2003 has the A8's weight distribution is F/R: 56.3/43.7%

Yea, those Audis are so nuch more front heavy than the Q.

I'll take the A8 over the Q any day.

Subtle, beautiful, and SO luxurious.

To really appreciate the Q, you have to live in a place where gas is cheap and roads are uncongested. Then, you can open up the VH45 and soar (all the while doing 9mpg).

Unfortunatley, I can't find that data on the website. I would guess the G50 to be about 54% on the front, and the Audi A8 V8 to be about 58%.

But it not only that, but initial design parameters. The Audis are designed as front wheel drivers, although none with the large V8-v10-W12 come that way.

Also, is about polar moment of inertia. This is why a mid-engine boxster or cayman is so much easier to drive on the twisties than a Z4 roadster or coupe, respectively. They are evenly matched on most road courses, but the Porsches are easier to drive towards the apexes.

The Bentlley twin turbo W12 is almost entirely in front of the front axle, and I would guess almost 60% weight. The Audi's with the additional differential and axles in AWD end up being significantly heavier and under powered. There is a good comparison in R&T about a year ago that shows the S6 being significantly heavier than a E63 AMG and the BMW M5 6MT. But they did like the driving dynamics better than the BMW (no defeatable nanny on the 6MT) but not as well as the AMG tuned E63 air suspension. Too bad Nissan doesn't compete at this level. But neither does Lexus.

I like looking at A8, but I would never own one. Straight down the Interstate, they are a very nice ride.

In Montana, I averaged 95+ mph at 15.6 mpg. It was a deserted two lane highway with some small settlements at intersections where I had to slow down.

What, not taking my word for it? Here are the links where I got my facts. This is the last page of the C&D article which I scaned myself and submitted to Q45.org.

So yes, the weight distribution of the Q and the A8 are about the same. Don't be changing the facts to make your point. I will give you this much, my A3 is about 59/41, but man, it handles great.

I had problems with the Q in tight handling situations (ramps, intersections). Otherwise, going through mountain passes and such, the understeer wasn't as prevalent, and the firm suspension and well-bolstered seats were a joy.

Meanwhile, the Lexus was no fun through any unstraight piece of road whatsoever, but nothing rides like an LS400, except maybe a Cadillac Fleetwood.

This Range Rover (picked it up last night, loving it so far) feels more Q-like than any other sedan I've driven.

Back on topic...The only concern I would have about the A3 is its relation to the R32. Evan, another NICO member, has gone through hell keeping his DSG Golf on the road. Lots and lots of electrical issues and over $10k in warranty work including almost half the engine and nearly every sensor and electrical part. But, he says most Mark IV GTI owners on the VW forums are happy, so hopefully his was just a glass of lemonade.

Hopefully you won't have those same issues with your Rover. My fiance has one and it is a total heap. Before I spent 400 bucks on rotors and pads last month, EVERY SINGLE light was on in the cluster. ABS, TCS, Air bag, brake, check engine, service engine soon, etc.

They are great trucks, until a certain age and mileage and then they are junk.
