Japan Motor Import is selling me a CA for 1525 shipped and all.. i can buy one of them fancy ebay intercooler kits from SS autochrome and i already have an aftermarket exhaust on there. , Im loving the CA already for its capability and weight... the 1.8 litre pains me a bit but it doesnt seem that bad being that as im a noob altogether. It seems like the perfect setup for my 90 240 for autocross and drifting. Anyways... What would i need to get this car to 250HP... thats my realistic goal within by this time next year.

im guessing...

Bigger TurboIntakeInjectorsBoost controller

this is just a guess... like i said im pretty new.... please direct me in the right direction! lol.

OH and do you know of any other places to grab a CA18? i seen that ebay one for 700 plus shipping but some of you steered me away (it did have a lot of rust). Venus Auto i know of and Japan Motor Import but no where else... any ideas?

I got mine from boost_boy and would reccomend dealing with him if he still has CAs available. Even through a shipping fiasco getting my engine out into the boonies up here and a couple other roadbumps, it was a pleasure dealing with him and the engine was top-notch, just as he promised.

To be safe and reliable, you also need some way to control the fuel (safc, etc), a fuel pump, and a FPR.

First thing I'm doing to mine is a better fuel pump, a nismo FPR, and then DSM or larger injectors. (440cc+) After all that, I'm going to go with a Z32 MAF, a new turbo, new cams, and some sort of fuel management solution, preferrably standalone.

I hope to do it in two shots. Fuel first, then all the rest. It'll probably be 6 months after the fuel stuff, since that should run me about $300, and the rest I think I priced last at about $2,500 or so.

You won't need a new cluster if you have a KA-DE. If you have KA-E (I did) you just need a tachometer from either a KA-DE, SR Silvia, or CA Silvia. I got a front clip, so the cluster came with it. All I did was just stick the CA (goes to 9K RPM instead of 8K RMP BTW) in the KA-E cluster. Works like a champ.

I think the stuff from import intellegence requires your current cluster. If you've got a KA-E, you'll still need to find another tach.

Assume I built my CA up a bit and got it to rev up a bit higher than stock. Is there another tachometer available that goes up to 9k or so and looks stock, or do you just sort of ignore the one in the dash and install an aftermarket tach?

Head gasket. Not a requirement but good insurance and easy to do on the shop floor.bigger injectors, 444 Nissan 450 DSM should do it but 550s would give you room to grow.upgraded in-tank pump, 255liter is adequateadjustable FPRfull exhuastlarge intercoolerS14, S15 or RNN14 turbosome sort of fuel control; SAfc, Emanage, Super AFR for example

watch your ignition timing, All these Nissan turbo engines were set up to run 100 octane, not so easy to get in the U.S. Intercooling is a must.

Well i was thinking about grabbing the SS autochrome FMIC kit. Would that be good intercooler wise?

By the way i just ordered the CA18DET engine from japan motor import! it should be coming in by the end of next week! (its shipping monday) man my blood is pumping.. i couldnt be happier .

Quick question! I notice all of you paint the engine bay.. what do you use to do that and is it costly? thanks ahead of time.

I was thinking of just grabbing the gauge cluster from a 240 DE and putting that in

Oh yeah one more thing... the CA18DET DOES redline at 7800 right?
