Last Tues I had my 2k3 SE-R in the shop for a TSB on the cam sensor. I got to meet Mike Jones, awesome guy.

Anyhow, I had gotten an SES the Fri before that went away on it's own. I asked them to pull the codes while they had it and fix a rattle for the diag fee. They fixed the rattle, but the SES codes were blank. No biggie.

Saturday morning I was driving the car and the SES came on and it started running HORRIBLE. I managed to pull the code and it was an 0300, multiple cylinder misfire. I pulled the plugs to see if they were shot. Low and behold, one of them was mashed flat.

I called Midway Nissan and talked to an SA named Ryan. He said it sounded like the dreaded butterfly valve problem and to bring it in on Monday.

I took the car into Midway Nissan this morning. Ryan just called me about 30 minutes ago. Nissan's buying me a new motor and cat.

Hooray for an engineer that wasn't smart enough to design an intake with lock washers on the damn thing.....heheheh

That sucks, but least you're getting it replaced.

Got my car back with a new motor and cat.

Apparently FOUR screws and TWO butterfly valves got snarfed by the engine. All they found still in it was one of the butterflys, torn in half. The rest of the parts were MIA. They did, however, say that the cat looked like someone had taken a stick to it, so it was probably trashed by the high flying screws and butterfly....heheheh

No worries. Feces occurs.

I have a couple of technical type of questions for you concerning the swap that I am hoping to do next year. I found out that the guy doesn't sell kits anymore, so I will have to have him do the car. He only does swaps, no more kits.

The problem with the swap is that is throws an evap system code after all is said and done, which makes sense considering the differences in the fuel and emissions systems. I am hoping that we can figure out some way to get rid of that code. That is, presupposing I get the swap, of course.
