Ok here is my question, I have this loud knock sound when i throw the car in reverse, it used to make the noise when there was no tension on the rear tires (cruising, or hitting small bumps) so i installed a complete coilover conversion, replaced all susupension bushings (poly) the only bushings i haven't replaced are my Subframe, so im guessing thats the problem, no i do have some poly subframe inserts, but i haven't found anyone around where I live to install them, and i don't know how difficult it is to install them, but some redneck here said i can just weld my subframe to the cars actual frame, is this actually something smart to do, or even possible? please let me know, i would love to get rid of that knocking and help stiffin my ride even more

Sounds like a drivetrain issue to me, have you checked to see if there is play in your driveshaft?

you do not want to weld the subframe to the car. its prob just your subframe bushings. theres a write up somewhere on here or another 240 site that shows how to do it. search and find out.

Don't weld the subframe to the car.

Check your diff bushings, if you have an S14, and your subframe bushings.

You said redneck. And for some reason, I cant stop laughing. Replace your subframe bushings.

ON the subframe inserts do yu have to take the whole subframe out to slide them in there, and will this cancel out the subfram bushings?

There are two threads running on both bushings and collars on the brakes wheels tires forum. The collars are designed to go in without removal of the subframe. They hold the stock bushings in compression so depending on the shape of your stockers, go with aluminum collars. redneck. That word is funny.

subframe bushings. When I first bought my 240, I noticed a loud bonking noise from the floor of the car when I accelerated/decelerated quickly. I could not see what the problem was unitil I had a friend get in the car and load/unload the drivetrain while parked. It is very apparent when you see the front subframe mount moving up and down.

The collars are the way to go, took about 25 minutes to get mine in. Heres the install directions.

There may be more in depth instructions somewhere, but its pretty straight forward.
