So i'm going to start out by saying this is mostly a vent. Just a rough day for me and my 240

So it starts like this. My girlfriend and I wanted to go to a mall about 30 miles from where I live. My 240 was running good so I said why not. We get there fine and hangout and leave. All is good, I mean hell even my HUD is working for once. On the way back I thought we could use a nice breeze, no AC, so I took the freeway. As I'm driving I notice something fly out of somebodys car. I try to avoid this object but to no avail I hit it. Theres a small thud followed by a quick gasp of air. I look to my girlfriend and she says, "WTF was that?" I didnt know at the time so I looked in my mirror and noticed the nice black line coming from the back of my car. The car felt sloppy and at that moment I knew the rear tire was blown.

Now on the side of the road I'm searching my gutted trunk for a jack and tire iron. I found the jack but not the tire iron. Luckly I had my tool box in my car so I could still get my wheel off. I had to jack the car up using a wrench, which is really freaking hard. I got the donut on and lowered the car back down on the donut. I went to drive away but something just wasnt right.

All that time in the hot Florida sun wasted because I didnt think. I mean how was I to know that because I'm running 18" wheels and the donut is such a small diameter, that it would spin faster because I had a welded diff. This meant that my donut would be burning out the whole time while I was driving and made driving impossible.

Long story short I had to tow my car home. 80 dollars and the tow truck driver even haggard up my already haggard front bumper. I also have an awesome radtastic sunburn

What a day :bigthumb:

What you need is to get a decent jack instead of that crap that comes with the car. This is what happens when you cheap out, 240 owners. You end up spending more money.

LOL I know. For some stupid reason I had to watch her pretty closely the whole time because she kept getting really close to the road lol

Woooow. Lack of foresight. When I first got my 16's the first thing I did was get a 16" spare.

Glad you guys didn't get hurt.

Free tow for the first three miles. I've had to use it and it came in handy but I've also always had to tow it over 3 miles, and it never ended up being free.

Your a basic member, upgrade to the premium membership and you will get 150 miles free before the tow company starts to charge you for their services.

I use to drive a tow truck for a tow company that did AAA services, a lot of the guys in the area with lowered cars would actually request that I be the one to pick up their car because I was the only one that cared enough to not f*** up their car getting it on and off the truck, not an easy task with that big a** truck I drove either.(truck was big enough to carry a full size dually truck)

I always enjoyed picking up guys with lowered cars, because I would usually shoot the s*** with them on the way to where ever they were going, and for a little while after dropping them off.

for future reference, a lot of vehicles have really similar sizes (outside diameter) donuts.

i got a 16 inch donut from a grand marquis i believe (plus its forged aluminum ;D) and its the same O.D. as my works with a 225/40

It depends on the driver, and what kind of mood he's in, and if you are willing to sign a damage waver so that the tow company doesn't have to fix any damage that may occur in the process of loading your significantly lowered car.

Many of the world's better cars don't come with spares. You could say that you are elevating your status by not carrying a spare :naughty:

You have to tell the operator to bring a flat bed. I've had many a lowered 240sx towed. The guy usually says that he's going to kill your bumper, to which you just suck it up & agree. Or are you talking about bagged cars with zero clearance?
