I was wondering if it really matters what type of welder you use on a welded diff like mig, tig, arc.

aint nothing wrong with a welded diff

I mean, of course 2 ways are better, but welded is a cheap and good start

As long as its not your daily driver theres not. Welded difs are great for drift cars, even better than a 2-way IMO. However they suck for the street, you will regret doing it if its your DD.

You can either get it miged or tiged. Do NOT use JB weld, wtf were you thinking on that suggestion..

Tiged is going to be stronger, but as long as its a good weld its not going to matter much. Welds are typically stronger than the gears themselves when done right.

welding the diff on your daily driver, I have and am currently in the market for a replacement. do yourself a favor and be patient. saving up for that mechanical lsd will be totally worth it. unless it's not your daily driver, then go nuts. if you mig, just use some spray in turtle wax, on whatever you dont want the little bee bees to stick to, they'll come off more easily when your done. also turn your wire speed to a medium, and your heat up high, move your hand slowly and keep a little further gap than you think you need to. penetration is key. also heating the metal before you weld on it helps. I welded my diff almost a year ago, and I'm sick of it. but when drifting it's amazing.

Its not really a buy-buy situation more like find someone who can weld you the Differential and you paying it for yourself situation.

I welded mine with a mig on my dd and it has held up great but preaty hard on the tires. I agree though lsd would be better for dd but are expensive. Plus the looks u get in parking lots are great.

I've driven and drifted LSD and welded diff and the only category were the LSD loses is cost, and its still worth it. Its possible I just dont understand the welded thing because I only drift for the fun of it, grip racing is where its at for me and I dont like the understeering and unpredictability of having both wheels going the same speed around a corner.

ive driven bolth, and a 2way isnt that much smoother then a welded. its loud as **** and unless u remember to clutch in all your turns, its pratically welded anyway.
