welded dif durability???

just what it states im thinkin about welding my dif and just want to hear from people that have done this,this is a daily driven car with all the usual goodies in it 270whp i do go to the drift events time to time so i really want to weld it just kinda want to know about how long does the dif last until it goes kaplao!!!! any info would be appreciated ....did use the search button by the way not enough info

I don't think you should have any problems. Hot Rod guys have been going it for years.

The durability depends solely on how good the welding job is. Dont be shocked if you are still able to break the welded diff and make it open again. Welded diffs will make rolling out of gear while turning almost impossible, you will have to be in gear at low speeds (like in parking lots) or else the car will just stop moving.

So you can't roll with the car out of gear? That would suck. (edit: oh, you can't make a turn while out of gear and keep rolling. I need to learn to read gooder)

I heard it was hard on the tires, which isn't good for a daily driver.

look into the Weld Loc'd Rear on Zilvia. you send the guy your diff and he welds the rear with plates so it wont break. he guarantees it too.
