I bought a 1990 240sx a few weeks back with a DOHC swap (assuming its an s13 DOHC because its got an external coil? tell me if i'm wrong). The guages didn't work when i bought it, even though it is a DOHC cluster. I assumed it was broken. I have replaced it with a known working cluster, and it still doesnt work, the 5 wires i have been told need to be run are run, and it is a DOHC harness. Engine runs fine for the most part. So i assumed something weird happened with the ecu, and went to swap it out with a friends DOHC edu. The car wouldn't idle at all and barely ran with me playing the throttle, BUT THE TACH WORKED.

Since then i have tried a known SOHC ecu, and my car runs just like it does with my ecu, which leads me to believe i am running a DOHC KA with a SOHC ecu. I thought this was impossible, but i am still new to 240's so im basically clueless. This is what my current and running ecu looks like...

The question i think I am asking now is Is there any way to run a DOHC KA using the SOHC ecu? like swap out some sensors or sumthing? my harness is pretty spliced up, and i think thats whats happening in my car.I've tested out two other known to work DOHC ecu's and my car won't run with either of them, i'd like to fix whatever some dummy did and get my car running w/ all DOHC pieces. Thanks

yeah i did that, the only source i could find said that it was in fact a sohc ecu, but it didn't seem very reliable.

It was suggested to me today that maybe i have a SOHC ecu, MAF and Dizzy,

does anyone know if swapping to a sohc dizzy/maf would make my car not run with a dohc ecu? thanks

The distributors aren't interchangeable so that's not an issue. the mafs are different though also but those i believe can easily be spliced do you see any splicing by the mafs?

i did the de swap on my 90 couple months ago.

the sohc ecu will work on the de, but it does run like crap, and the gauges dont work.

your ecu in the pic is actually from a 89 240sx ka24e...

so thats that

as far as the rest goes..hate to say it..but check everything one by one. and good luck!
