I just got my 90 240sx with the single cam. At idol, when the clutch is depressed, no noise. When the car is out of gear, and the clutch is up, the noise pops up again. I can make a video if that would help.

Please do. I'm sure it'll help us figure out what's going on. Also, it'll help in describing others' problems in the future.

Okay, that attempt failed. Ill try again tonight. It sounds kinda like a throw out bearing thats crapped out. Anyone know if its common?

No not throw out bearing. could be a couple things, pilot bushing is worn and spinning in the crank. That noise is extreamly obnoxious. Or it could be internal trans bearings worn out. this noise is much more subtle and can usually be heard through the first 3 gears really good when driving.

I dont notice it while driving, I think the engine noise covers it up. Also, when my car was shut off, I tried to select 1st gear with the clutch up. It wouldnt shift. Bad thing?

My car has been doing it for a couple of years now, and it is no louder (actually somewhat quieter) now than it was when it started doing it.

I haven't noticed any difference with clutch action or difficulty in shifting, so I would say don't worry about it.
