95% of the time I lurk these forums and learn everything I can from you guys, but I got a small issue I can't seem to figure out. I've searched almost every 240 TPS issue on the site and everyone seems to have a little different problem. Ok, so here is mine. Back probing the middle wire on the TPS shows that I have 0.45 volts constant when I have the key in the ignition and motor off. Throttle closed shows that I am hitting 2.00 ohms. Now with throttle wide open I am peaking at 8.99 sometimes 9.12 ohms and no higher. Could this be that the sensor is shot or is getting bad? Any help is greatly appreciated.

If i'm not mistaking, if you convert ohms to volts you will end up with the same number. So if that is the case I would end up still at 9 volts when the throttle is wide open.

That .45 to .55 is when you back-probe the wire. The specs on that in my car are dead on but I can't seem to hit 10 volts.

just an FYI ohming out a RPS is not always accurate. Most of the meters out there have a slower capture rate and you can float over a dead spot and not even know. I suggest using an O-Scope and watching the curve on that. if you see any dips its not good.

I had this issue with my TPS on the LS, checked it with a very pricey fluke 289 multi, and it looked good. Hooked up my fluke 196C scope and it had a nice dead spot.

Well I went back out there and adjusted it once more just to make sure those numbers were dead on and still wouldn't push past 9.00 volts. Strange thing is though I went for a drive and most if not all of the hesitation was gone. For future tests where would I pick up one of these O-Scopes?

I got a fluke 123 for sale. Brand new, MSRP 1400 selling for 1000... With that said you can borrow one, or junkyard a new sensor and see if it helps

Wow yes after you said that about the O-Scope I did some research on it and they are pretty cool. But thanks for all of the help guys. It seems to be running 100% better than it previously was.

(nicely put) yes, your mistaken. next time, do those same readings in volts, no converting
