I have a 92 240sx KA24DE 5spd Stock.

Been having trouble with my idle. Tested my Tps today. The results I got were exactly the oppisite of normal. If someone could look over this and tell me if I'm doing this right, and what to do about it,, I would really appreciate it.

The article in the FAQ states -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------"With the locking tab pointing UP, the terminals are A, B, and C, from left to right. Make sure that resistance between terminal A and B of the connector half (female) that goes to the TPS changes when opening the Throttle Valve manually.

The results of the test should be:

Accelerator Pedal Condition Resistance in k Ohms

Completely released Approx. 2Partially released 2 -10Completely depressed Approx. 10If test shows "No Good", replace Throttle Sensor. "---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------My test show

* 10 released * 2.5 fully depressed

I couldn't figure out why it would be backwards. Just to be thorough, I tested the ohms between the B and C as well.

* 2 released* 9.5 fully depressed.

Is it possible my TPS is installed backwards?

Looking at the page in the FSM it would appear that I have it correct.

I also have a question about adjusting the Tps for idle.

According to the FAQ-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------VOLTAGE ADJUSTMENT:

1. Loosen the 2- bolts that hold the TPS.2. Start engine and warm up sufficiently.3. Measure output voltage of Throttle Sensor using voltmeter.4. Adjust by rotating Throttle Sensor body so that the output voltage is 0.45 - 0.55 volts.5. Tighten mounting bolts.6. Disconnect Throttle Sensor harness for a few seconds and then reconnect it.

Note: With the locking tab of the connector pointing up and looking at the back of the female connector as the wires go into it, terminal #1 is the one on the LEFT. #2 is in the MIDDLE and #3 is on the RIGHT.

Output voltage is measured across terminals #2 and #3 from the harness side of the connector."-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know I'm going to sound like an idiot for asking this,

If I have to disconnect the Tps harness to measure the Voltage.... How can there be any voltage coming from it? I get power (5V) coming from the ECU side of the harness. And it has good ground. But I just don't understand how I am supposed to measure the voltage of the TPS without disconnecting it first??? With out power going to it theres just no way for power to come out right... So whats to measure

If someone could point me in the right direction here that would be great.

use needles to get the voltages from the back of the plug. Not really likely that your tps is installed backwards since there's a lever that sits on only one side.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the connector in this picture is the female connector on the main harness that connects to the ecu. You should not be able to measure any resistance changes on this connector. If you are using the pin locations on this connector to reference the resistance measurments you took from the male connector, then the pin numbers/letters are reversed, and you are getting normal resistance measures.

If you know Ohm's law, you can measure the resistance and input voltage while disconnected and calculate the voltage while running

I took the picture there in my living room. So little difficult for that to be the harness running to the ECU.

Gonna try readjusting the TPS tomorrow.

Thanks for the help, I'll let you know how it works out.

The instructions in the manual HAVE IT BACKWARDS. There are MANY mistakes in the factory manual and this is merely one of them. You are testing it properly (just backwards because you followed the manual).

You are just going to have to drive in reverse for now on.

mine reads the same as yours. how the hell could they get that backwards though? also i get about 6volts coming from my tps harness(to the ECU) and i can't get any voltage reading out of the TPS lead? am i doing something wrong?
