Hey guys,

Weird question for you. I towed a 3 series today...carefully, following all towing guidelines (he was stuck going up a small incline about 2 feet long--into a parking lot where I live)

I pulled him, and it went really well. Somebody told me otherwords (who drives a QX), that there is only ONE tow location on the car.

Once, I had my car freed by a tow truck. He attacahed his hook to the lower rear of my bumper in the back. So I used the same place!!

I looked at the manual, turns out only the front right is meant for towing?

Am I right? Because that's very sad... now I wonder if I damaged my car helping someone out...

The force would have been very little though. We waited for the line to get taut, then she accelerated, and then I did, very slowly...2 feet is all we went...

What do you think? sigh

An act of kindness...now I'm scared...

Where exactly did you attach the tow hook? Basically what you've told us is that you attached the hook to the plastic, which would have torn it instantly, so I don't think that's what you did.

Were there any brackets under there that you attached to? If so, you're probably all right. There are some brackets under the rear that come off when you put a hitch on, and we have a 5000lb tow rating. So, half that (since you only used 1 side) and 2500lbs is safe, I doubt you needed that much for what you did...

Ahh, see you're from Waterloo, how's the weather in your part of the town? I'm still digging myself out.

Hello there,

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, it was on the bracket...haha!

I'm actually in Kitchener now as well. Not too much digging for me - living in an apartment helps!

At least we broke the record for most snowfall!! How you doing?

you're good then since it was on the bracket, I almost had to tow someone out today, and I would have just used my hitch for it, so it amounts to the same thing. I offered to bring my X-jack out to my friend so he could get his Magnum unstuck by himself.

Ya, 37.5cm of snow, the previous record was 30.5 in 1966. That's 15" of snow in one fall. I could judge it by the fact that I was plowing it with the lower bumper of my OME lifted Pathfinder (which gave me about 2" of lift). Yesterday I went to Future Shop by Sportsworld, and there was absolutely zero visibility on Hwy 8. I'm used to that when I go to work, I take Hwy 21 along Lake Huron, and it blows off the lake. I don't know who had the brilliant idea to buld a Nuclear Station up there, must have been in the summer when they bought the land :-)

And now the roads are bare. And half of them are dry.
