Ive heard that a couple of seconds rattle at start-up means the timing chain is slapping something (slack) and the tensioners may be bad/gone. So I took off my valve cover to find that it looks like my tensioners were both intact and I couldnt push/pull and slack. The only proble looked like the left tensioner (facing the engine) might have been slightly loose. Any ideas?

You have a factory oil filter on it?

it is most likely your lifters if it is only for a few seconds after start up, if it was the timing chain it would keep going. putting a factory oil filter will mean a better designed anti-drain back valve to keep the oil up by the lifters. the timing chain will go continuously, although it may quiet down.

does it happen if you start the car up, then turn it off, then imidiently start it back up again, if not that may pinpoint the filter as the problem spot

Yeah, it just happens at first for a second or two. And when I turn it off, and immediately turn it back on, it doesnt happen.

Its almost time for another oil change anyway (just used seafoam), so I guess I'll pick up a OEM oil filter. I'll let you guys know when I do. Thanks ya'll...
