So i have a weird situation with my KA24DET, when I start the car it fires right up but then the idle drops down to 300-400 like it wants to stall (sometimes idle doesnt drop that low), then bounces up to 700 and does this about 3 or 4 times then stabalizes. If it is cold outside the car will do this and bounce up to 1100 or so depending on how cold it is outside. I allow the car to full warm up and the temp gauge to read UPDATE: almost normal.

UPDATE: (I just noticed that the cars temp needle doesnt rise fully to the normal until several minutes of hard driving/(boost), even though I could let it sit for minutes warming up.)

Following this after several minutes of driving and arriving at the first /second stops the RPMs bounces alittle along with the vacuum on the boost gauge in very small increments. After it does this for 3-4 times it then stabalizes it climbs to 900.

Continuing driving for several more minutes and stopping at a stop the RPM settles at 900 and drives fine, idels fine afterwards, no complaints after the initial startup series.

Just wondering what might be going on here at start up? The shop says the Emanage might be giving too much fuel at startup.

Thanks

Im gonna take a stab here, but it could be your IACV. My car used to fluctuate at a cold start up. It would start and bounce from 300-1000 rpm, and sometimes stall if i didnt hit the throttle. But after a couple minutes of driviing it would be fine. I just sparayed some carb cleaner in the IACV hose while the car was running and it solved that problem. Its worth a try.

yeah i say iacv too..but i dont know how that ties in with emanage..

my engine is stock and did the same thing, start up then it would stall out unless i held some throttle for a few seconds. yesterday i cleaned the maf and iacv and it starts up perfect now

what kind of bov do you have? is it atmospheric. it could have a tiny leak.

My CTS was my problem when my car did that. It would dump a ****e load of fuel at startup and until it got to operating temp. I watched it with my scan tool and it was reading negative 30 at startup even when it was 75 outside. Then once the car warmed up it would read about 10 degrees lower than actual but would stabilize, I replaced it and haven't had any problems since.

It's a Blitz DD recirculated.

That seems like a good description.

Thanks everyone for the help, I'll clean out the IACV and CTS.
