weird start up problem...help

hey all,

so recently i have had this problem with my car and it just got progressively worse to the point where it is now

i would turn the key and the car would start right up no problems, then it would rev down, bog, and die

when i go to start it again it just turns over and over and over and wont start

i tried it today for a long while and still nothing

i suspected that it was a spark problem so i checked all conections for spark, all good, then i checked for a vaccum leak, couldnt find one, then i took out my spark plug to see if it was gunked up, it wasnt and still had a ok gap no bridging

while the plug was out i saw that i had flooded the cylinder with gas from trying to start it up so much

so now im waiting for it to evaporate right now but i dont know what it could be...

i was thinking maybe the cap and rotor were worn and i wasnt getting a good spark... any thoughts? or my friend and suggested an o-ring

what i would do sometimes when is saw it starting to bog was to rev it a bit for like 30 seconds and then after that it would idle perfect and no problems...

Did you mess with the timing at all? Maybe its off, check the cap and rotor and see if you can get a timing light on it.

no i hadnt messed with it at all, and it dosnt idle or run bad at all, pulls hard, just this really weird thing on start up only

the only thing i can figure is that it just isnt making a good conection and would need a tune up

mine right now on first start up bogs for like 10 seconds. I haven't looked into it cuz it's only once a day. So now I'm interested, I don't want it to fail on me.

so i seemed to have fixed the problem

i can only assume that it was a combination of a bad spark and lack of air, the iacv was pretty much closed so i opened that up a bit to see if that might help, did a bit

then just changed the spark plugs after check the distributor cap and rotor which were fine and bam...no problems at all

it was such a weird problem though, the sparks didnt seem that bad, they wernt bridged or anything and the build up didnt seem bad but i guess it was bad enough to not function correctly cold
