i tired the search, there was like at least 2 dozen threads on the speedometer problem but they are alittle different from mine...

i drive it, the needle moves up, it'll say 45mph, i go pass a cop detector and it'll say 40 or so mph, the thing is, if i try to raise the speed, it'll go up slowly, but if i press the brakes, it takes like 15 or so seconds just to come down alittle...

what i'm trying to say is that its so not responsive...when i stop the car and turn it off, it stays at about 10 or 15mph, not zero...

can you guys give me any tips on what i can do? you guys think a shop may be able to fix this problem?

Hey,

It usually comes down to 3 things, the gauge cluster, the speed sensor or the cables between.

I would start with the simplest thing, that is checking the cables in your engine bay... these deteriorate over time and crack or get disconnected causing the speedo to act in any kind of unpredictable way. This is what happened to mine. I also had the same problem with the wire leading to my AC compressor.

Replacing the speed sensor is easy and cheap so I would try that next and if you have to try replacing the gauge cluster with a second hand one.

That's my experience.

Good luck

Based on all the other issues you have on this car I would say that you have a serious or semi serious electrical issue going on.
