So quick synopsis..
I have a 91 original TT, 5 speed. My speedometer reads 120mph parked and is always jumping around.. If I smack the cluster the speedo moves around significantly and eventually if I hit it a couple times.. (softly of course, I don't hurt my baby :D) it will eventually catch and will read an accurate speed. My Odomoter works fine, my oil pressure works fine, my tach works fine but my boost gauge usually reads full boost no matter what. If it was the speed sensor I don't think smacking the cluster would fix it -__- the needle bounces around a lot but when it finally catches it doesn't jump any more. Any insight would be very appreciated, I'm thinking of buying a brand new Cluster from Nissan, I can pick it up for around $350 brand new, I don't mind spending the cash, it will look nice and if it can fix my problem then I'm all for it but I would really appreciate some insight if anyone has suffered from this weird speedo issue. Thanks again, and I searched Thread topics and even words in posts for this and I couldn't find a relatable post :(

Have you taken out the cluster yet? Chances are the screw holding down the connection is just loose or the plastic-ish pathway is corroded. Take it out of the dash and inspect it to see if anything is visually wrong. Check and clean the electrical plug port, too.

If you could, take a photo of the back of it for us as a reference piece, too!

I'm gonna take pics when I get home tonight but I took it out completely and checked for loose plugs or bad connections or corroded terminals but it all looked ok :/ thanks for the quick response ! Any other suggestions as to what it could be ?
