Hey guys, maybe somebody here can help me figure this out:
My girlfriend drives this like 93 or so Taurus, its a piece of garbage with like 225,000 on it, and there are constantly problems with it, but this one has me stumped.
Both when the car is sitting and when it is moving there is a sound coming from what seems like behind the dash someplace (although it could be transmission area (torque converter?) that sounds like water rushing... its like a gurgling sound like you're standing near a stream. My first guess was that maybe its coolant running through the pipes for heat- just based on the location- but later we found that the sound comes even when the heat isnt on...
I checked the coolant level and it was REALLY low, so I added some water to top it off and the sound went away for like a week. Now it's back again, and the coolant level is fine. The car does not overheat at all.
I dont know if this could be a sign of a major problem or not, I only worry because the sound is so pronounced... its really odd to hear sounds like that, ones you've never heard before....
I know this isnt a 240, but has anyone had any experience with this at all? Even if you havnt, any ideas as to what it could be?
Again, car stats:
-93 or so (? not sure of year, its old) Ford Taurus-225k miles-Known transmission problem: constantly slips in first, itll rev a little like its in neutral and then pop in and go after a second or 2-Coolant was very low, but I filled it. All other fluid levels (oil, transmission, etc) are fine. just as I type this I remember I didnt check power steering fluid, oops..-the car is white with lots of scratches and dents!!! (this is a key point)
heh any help you guys could give me would be appreciated... I wanna be the manly man and fix my girl's car!
