weird sound

My Z sounds like a supercharged mustang it started about two weeks ago anybody has any ideas what this sound might be?

Vacuum leak! Probably a big one. Look for hoses unplugged or open pipes coming from the intake manifold. Do a boost leak to see where the air is escaping from

If it was a vacuum leak specially if it's a big one wouldn't the car idle erratically and maybe even shut down.

Just thinking but I'll give it a try I'll do a boost leak

Power steering pumps when they whine will sound like a super charger. Is your fluid low or can you see bubbles in the fluid?

Ok let's get a better idea of what your idea of a supercharger sounds like. When does it make the noise, all the time the engine is running? Only at idle, only at speed, or under acceleration? Does it whine, or is a high pitch squeel?

It wines under acceleration all gears it does not do it at idle or when reving the engine and is nota high pitch sound and when I say it sounds like a supercharged mustang it sounds just like that example the saleen mustang on I am legend

So you can rev the engine in neutral and you do not hear the noise correct? What happens if you shift into neutral when you are at speed when it makes the noise (safely of course)? Does it sound like it's coming from the engine, from the rear or a side?

It was a Shelby GT500 in the movie BTW

your car a 5sp? sounds like its comeing from the middle of the car? noise increases with rpm?

I guess it does sound nice ir sounds like I have both a supercharger and turbos but its not supposed to,
im not really sure where it comes from but thats what I was thinking maybe my transmision but i hope not

yeah it is the powersteering pump had the same issue. Everytime you drive there is this whining sound. When you turn your wheel does it make a whining sound

just put ATF and A new pump (maybe a light weight pulley if you want) and belt. Then your twinscrew supercharger will go away.

Ok ill look into that just now im kind of busy and have no time to do anything to the z but thanks for your input and i will let you guys know what the outcome is

my old zs transmission was f###d and waled bad sounded like a super charger it sucked
hade a power steerting issue for me it screamd and squeld real sharp if thats the case make shure you get the correct flued (its like a hydrolic type flued)for it
same with transmission get right flued or it will sease after awhile!?!?!

Update so I was able to finally drive the z and as I'm driving i depress the clutch and rev the engine and nothing it sounds normal but when in gear it squeals so I'm guessing transmission I'm gping to check the fluids and take it from there hope nothing is messed up

I cheked the fluid and it only had abour one quart i hope theres no damage to the gears, didnt drive it yet hopefuly on monday

I guess I have to check for leaks on the transmission
