Weird sound...

So I'm driving to my g/f's house today and I hear this strange sound when I'm standing at a light, as if the engine is about to stall out... and thinking I don't have the money to repair a damn car thats only 1 1/2 years old -___- disregarded it till i got to my garage... put the car into drive and pull the E-brake (only makes the sound when the car is in drive) popped the hood only to find the hoods support rod that holds the hood up is just hanging down resting on the engine... soon as i put it back it was fine, but boy was i worried...

What I've learned from TheRussianBulls post is to check my hood rod next time I look under the hood.

Got a point there, but if the hood rod was loose, it would fall down when you opened it, and that would be a big DUH on your part. But I guess we all have our moments, and I won't lie that I have left a wrench on my crankshaft pulley before and gone to start the car only to hear it get flung and hear a loud crash and say "oh $hit" to myself. Then learn it was a n00bie mistake.

The reason I was sensitive to your comment (and the engine compartment noise) was because the hood rod holder (plastic) in my Frontier broke and the rod started banging under the hood. The holder, for some unknown reason, just decided to break four days after I closed my hood. So, the "DUH" factor didn't come into play.

yea I actually put some thought into it and realized that it is plastic, and capable of breaking. I was having a REALLLLY bad day earlier so yea, didn't put any thought into anything.

I know what you mean, I had the same thing happen to me when I first drove to work in the little car, I was going nuts, but what relief when I found out it was just that hood support!
