Ok im getting this weird sound from the back, it almost sounds like morse code.... i think its from the antenna but im not sure.. it definatly sounds like it tho.

Here is the story, a couple days ago i installed my new deck, i wired the antenna wire with the antenna wire, but the weird thing is, sometimes my antenna would go down when i shut off my car, some times it wont... and it also doesnt wait until i turn to the "station", but rather it just comes up when i turn on my headunit. even when im in cd mode!

If that wasnt weird enough... it CREEPS up by it self! you can literally hear morse code sounding thingy... and it just keeps greeping up by itself... little by little... so if i leave it down at night, so sleep and wake up in the morning... its fully extended.....

So i finally got irritated... and i wanna do something about it.. which i did.. i find that if i gound the antenna wire (contact with metal) it stops the creeping up. so thats what i did. along with grounding the amp. NOW.... that stoped the creeping... but the sound is driving me crazy!!! even when the car is parked... LOCKED... and it still makes that sound.... the only time when it doesnt, is when i have my key on "ON" for the split second... and ofcourse when i disconnect the battery...

Now i dont know what to do.... i even pulled the plug thats connected to the antenna.. it still does it. what do i do?????

wel first off, thats how head units are designed... They will extend the antenna when you turn the HU on..... Most only have one turn-on lead so as soon as you get power to the HU the turn on lead has power, theres no seperate turn on for the HU...

It sounds to me like you need to go back and check your wiring, i think theres probably a bad connection somewhere..

why dont you just buy a new stationary antenna. They are fairly inexpensive ranging from like 15-40 dollars. The antenna cable plugs right into the back of your headunit, power wire ground wire. It's not that difficult to install either. Just a thought
