Alright, heres the deal. Whenever I drive over a messy road ie; pot holes, little cracks, bumps etc I hear rattling noise coming from what I think is underneath the car. I brought it into the local dealership and they said my ebrake cable is loose and thats the reason why I have to press down so far to apply the ebrake. It fixed the problem for a few days and then I start to hear it rattle again. I brought it back today they said they fixed it by adjusting the cable again. My wife picks up the car and says its fine, but I take it out for a spin to the gym and I hear the noise again. I have extended warranty, why don't they just replace the damn cable? What should I tell the service rep tomorrow?

Tell them exactly what you typed here and tell them that you gotta busy schedule and are kinda getting upset that the problem isn't being fixed.

You did pay for the warranty so you have every right to demand a permanent fix not just quickie that's gonna be problematic.

This is what i do. Talk to your service advisor and ask to have a tech go on a ride with you. Show him first hand the noise, and then they will fix it whether it is your cable or whatever.

Mine was the the ebrake issue. They tightened it and noise went away. There are other post on this topic that mentions a Y-Pipe issue which could be your case if the tightening the ebrake did not work for you, jherto. Link to post here...

Try driving down the road on which you know the rattle will occur. Roll down all windows so you can hear the rattle. When you do, with your left foot, press down a little bit on the parking brake which removes slack out of the cable. If the noise stops, it is your parking brake shoes rattling. Adjustment is under the dash on the top of the parking brake. There is a 12-13 mm nut. Your parking brake pedal should engage almost as soon as you depress it. It it goes 2-3 inches there is too much slack.

I have just recently start hearing that rattling noise, it's like a loose chain the most I can describe it it comes from the rear of the car as soon as I put it in drive and take off at low speeds, I suspected it could be something related the E-brake cuz recently the pedal press is so far down. I will look into the suggestion the other OP stated where u can adjust the E brake from underneath steering wheel. I hope it works. I will repost once I find out.
