So I have been noticing something a bit unsettling over the last few days. And I'm pretty sure it's the throw out bearing or something related to the clutch/flywheel. Kinda scared because I don't want it to damage the crank, but it's the only car I have that is running currently. When I accelerate or throw the car in neutral there is a crazzzzy rattling sound that sounds like if you were to rattle a spray can at like 8,000 rpm lol, and it doesn't clunk or anything it's constant with the speed of the car so when I accelerate it accelerates, when I slow down it slows down, almost sounds like some bolts have come out and are tumbling around, or some bearings are shot or something. I have stupid slow acceleration as well. So guys any ideas???? Am I in any danger of snapping my crankshaft and destroying my ca????? :ohno:

That fact that it's speed related and not engine RPM related tells me isn't in the output shaft of the transmission, driveshaft, carrier bearing (most likely), or the differential.

I don't think the motor is in any danger. I would get the car up in the air and start checking the driveshaft and carrier bearing. You could have a loose bolt/nut on the driveshaft somewhere that could cause problems.

Thanks man for the info, I will get it up in the air and have a look at a few things, I'll just start at the front and work my way back and see if I can find anything. Now that you mention it I had some problems awhile back with bolts on the front half of the driveshaft loosening before the carrier bearing, but then again it could be the diff as well, and not to mention I really need to replace the wheel bearings as well. But thanks Float for the info so I am not thinking I'm about to crank walk out the side of my CA :mike
