I have a 89 240sx and i was wondering if anyone might could tell me what this noise is......

when i turn the wheels left or right it makes a kinda squeak noise, its louder turning right than left

only does it when i turn my wheels when im stopped, not when im rolling and making a turn

sounds like its something that needs to be greased or lubed but ive crawled under and cant find where its coming from

any suggestions will be great thanks

You could have a dried out balljoint or tie rod end. Check your strut mounts also.

sitting still puts a ton of strain on your steering. sure it isn't your power steering? at what point does the noise occur. all the way through or once it gets all the way and then you bump it past where it wants to go?

it starts whenever i move the steering wheel period (all the way through). idk if its the power steering bc it turns smooth and when its fully turned it does squeal or anything. i forgot to mention its the original suspension and the body has over 200,000 miles

it rides fine, actually pretty good.i just wanted to find out what it was so if its something major maybe i could catch it in time

Place your hand on each ball joint and tie rod end and get someone to turn the steering wheel, you should be able to feel if they are not rotating smoothly.
