Weird Noise?NEED HEELP!

I was out in my versa last night and my buddy has a eclipse spyder and i was pushing my nissan(obviosly) to keep up. I had the revs way up around 7000 and went to shift and when i pushed in the clutch i her a clunking noise from the engine bay and could feel it too. the next day my clutch was a lot smoother without the sporty feel any one have any ideas what i did?
