Hey guys,
I bought a used 08 nissan versa about a year ago and recently have noticed a couple things:

1.My car makes a loud screeching noise when I brake. I assume that this is the brakes.

However, the problem I am more concerned about is this clucking/clicking noise I hear whenever I accelerate my car.
I shot a video of it. You may have to turn your volume up a bit but you can hear it.

Please help me. Thank you in advance.

Since it gets faster with acceleration, and slower with deceleration, and stops when you brake - check the brake system. Sounds like something loose with the caliper in the front. Where does the noise come from? Is it centered on one wheel?

It sure does sound like a brake system issue.

Oh and as far as the screeching on the brakes - usually noisy brakes indicate wear and need for replacement. You may need new pads at the very least. Where does the screeching come from - the front or rear?

I had a similar issue with my last car which was also used. I took it in to be looked at and apparently some of the screws came away from my brake pad. It was just about hanging on and rubbing while I drove. When I drive I'd hear that clicking when I stopped it went away. I don't know if that's the issue you have. My issue at least turns out when I had it looked at the last person to install the brake pads on the car didn't do it properly which caused the screws to come undone. The mechanic did say at the time it was good that I came in because if I lost the brake pad It'd make stopping properly an issue lol.

The description of "loud", "screaching", "clicking", with brakes sounds like more than just pads worn down to the wear indicators. I have had these same symptoms with another car, and when I looked at the front brakes, I discovered one of the caliper pins had broke, more accurately the threaded portion of the caliper pin had stripped out. This allowed the caliper/pad assembly to get crooked against the rotor. The rotor was destroyed, and if left to go much longer would have resulted in a catastrophic failure of something. Please don't ignore this. If it is just pads, that would be good (less expensive), but don't make that assumption given the noises you are describing.

This is very easy to check yourself, if you are comfortable with removing tires and doing basic maintenance yourself.

Hey thanks for the responses guys. I took my car in to the dealership and it turned out that my front left hubcap just needed to be reinserted. I had previously taken in my car to Walmart to get the wheels replaced so i'm thinking that one of the associates must have not screwed in and properly inserted the hubcap back into the new tire. In any event, i'm happy that it was a simple fix and nothing costly :) And as far as the brakes, the technician told me that that's normal if the car is coming off a driveway like that and after he told me that I realized that the screeching sound only happens when I AM backing off my driveway so I was happy to hear that. Thanks again for the help guys.
