When I slow to a stop using my front brakes of my 1993 q45, I hear a grinding noise coming from them or one of them. I have checked the brakes and no pads are worn or grooves in the rotors. It's been going on for about 4 months now. 90% of the time it does it when I stop. Rarely does it not grind. I'm confused

Check all 4 brakes and rotors, then check the calipers if all else fails. Then replace all rusted parts with new when you do the brakes.

Were the brake pads replaced recently? If so, it's possible that the new pads haven't "seated" against the rotors yet. Also, some aftermarket replacement pads are noisier than the OEM pads.

My brakes are "grindy" for the first couple of stops after the vehicle has been setting overnight. Rust forms VERY quickly on the rotors (especially in wet or humid weather), and may require several stops to scrape it all off.

Some [many] aftermarket pads are EXTREMELY noisey compared to OEM pads designed to be very quiet and wear faster.

Hard aftermarket rotors* can add to the noise of pads just as drilling and slotting can.

* cheaper and easier to make harder cast iron than the optimal softer [and quieter] cast iron.

In IOM, where this post belongs, there is a requirement to post a maintenance history which in this case would include type of equipment employed, when installed, and how the installation was accomplished.

Without this information, we really only can guess, not actually help you.
