For the past week, this noise is happening when I turn the car on in the morning. Not sure if it happens if the car is warm. This video is taken after the car has been off for 24 hours. You will hear it right before I move the camera.

When I pop the hood, one of the clips that holds the grill in place pops out! lol I will just go to lowes and get a replacement.

Car has 64,000 miles on it. Bought it July 8th.

Does anybody know what that noise is? Noise occurs at exactly 20 seconds into the video.

On another note, the car does sound a lil funny when I start it up. Like a very faint whine.

hmmmm.....very odd.

can you post another video while you or someone is revving the engine?? the rattle noise at 20 seconds in the video, does it happen while revving?? that might help figure out the noise....

The noise at 20 seconds happens at idle. In the video you saw, I turned on the car, and stepped out.

I need to turn the car on when its warm and see if it happens then, but I doubt it--I'll record it.

I'll try to make another video today and rev at cold start up.

Sounds like a jet fighter screaming across the sky. If I knew it wasn't dangerous I'd keep it! (LOL)

Ok I've updated the vids.

The first vid is just like the original except I rev the engine a bit. Once i hear that rattle, I rev it as well and it goes away.

This second vid is after the car has been on for a while. I turn it off and turn it back on twice. Everything seems normal except for that ticking, which I've been reading might be the pulley bearings. I know the part doesn't cost much but not sure how much labor is involved. Can anybody tell me how much they paid for that?

It might be me, but that ticking sound sort of sounds like that rattling sound in the very first post, but in short ticks.

All these posts about engine noises has got me all worrysome!

thanks for posting more vids....just curious, have you checked the oil level lately? I'm still curious as to the 'rattle noise' being initially loud then going away.....I think someone else had a similar experience..I'll check prior posts here and other forums...btw, does the car drive / shift good??

I checked the oil yesterday and it was fine. As far as the shifting, that is fine too. Drives great and lots of power!

that's good news :dblthumb: I think that noise would drive me crazy, so I understand your concerns...if I find any possible solutions, I will certainly post...

Slight ticking is always said to be normal with these vq engines... However on the last video you posted it sounds like it possibly would be the idler pulley or your belts! Does not sound like major engine knocking do I think you can rule that out! I replaced my belts at 60k and my idler pulley checked out along with coolant and transmission drain and fill done and I haven't had any problems with my M45!! These cars are strong but you must keep maintenance up to date (even though you just bought it in July). Try to check three vehicle maintenance history and go from there...

So I would say either belts or idler pulley! I haven't done the idler pulley or had it done so don't know the cost but I believe another member did out and even did a write up!
